Is it worth it?

How often is it updated, as notice all the guides here - https://www.malwarebytes.com/thank_you_techbench?ref=TBBasic - seem to be well out of date

And change log here - https://help.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/31589491306779-Toolset-version-1-8-2-1547 - seems to indicate not updated since 2021!

I have been in business 20+ years and have always favoured AVG Internet Security as the product I supply, but getting so fed up with the constant scareware / pop-up / ads it shows trying to force customers to buy extra crap from them etc, so been looking for alternatives

All comments from people who use it greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

I dropped Techbench some 6+ years ago. The portal is still a relic of the 2000's and was a mess for me. It just wasn't worth fighting and Malwarebytes doesn't seem to care anymore. Resting on their laurels.

Okay thank you. Must admit first impressions not great as I completed enquiry form on website and not even had a response yet!

Years ago I switched AVG to their CloudCare products. Now called Avast CloudCare. It's their business product so AVG/Avast never try to upsell,

Yes I had been looking at that as a potential replacement idea along with some others. Just not sure if would work so well for home customers though

At times in the distant past I was a huge fan of both AVG and Avast, and now would touch neither with a 10-foot pole (and particularly the free for home users versions). The endless "hyperventilating" on the part of both products unnecessarily scared my clients to death on more than one occasion.

If I may ask, what is it that you are trying to accomplish here, and particularly in reference to residential and micro-business clients?

Yes I am beginning to think the same, have been selling AVG to customers for so many years now, but these pop-up / scareware adverts are putting off both me and my customers.

I had been looking for an alternative solution to supply my customers and had always like Malwarebytes, so when coming across the techbench subscription and reseller program it caught my interest, until I saw that the tool seemed outdated, hence asking on here. In mean time I have contact malwarebytes for more info and not even received a response, so not a great start!

Other consideration I had after testing multiple products was bitdefender. But also may now look at Avast CloudCare as do like the idea of being able to centrally manage all my client A/V solutions in one place to make renewing etc easier.

I would recommned Emsisoft, they allow a portal for client management. I have been a reseller for some time now.

Well, I'll say again what I've been saying for years now: Windows Security is way more than adequate for the vast majority of typical users. It also has the advantage of being least likely to either have "scary pop-ups" or to cause other side effects that many third-party products do (or can, anyway).

It's not just my personal opinion that Windows Security (AKA Windows Defender) is a top tier product. I've yet to see it show up anywhere except the top ten in any of the test results from multiple entities that test security software.

Look at the most recent testing results from the following antivirus/security testing labs, along with the historical results from the past several years if you want to see how Windows Security/Defender has been performing. Windows Security has been solidly in the top 10, often top 5, and frequently beats out several well-known competitors that one must pay for.

AV Test (See Windows test section)

AV Comparatives (Reports Page – Look at Real-World Threat Protection and Advanced Threat Protection Test reports)

SE Labs (Reports Page – Look at Endpoint Security Reports)

MRG Effitas (360° Assessment & Certification Reports)

Or pick your security tester of choice. I've been monitoring the test results approximately 2 to 4 times per year ever since Windows 10 and the current variant of Windows Security/Defender made its debut, and it has never fallen out of the top tier, often besting paid products. But no one, and I mean no one, constantly holds their same relative position in the top ten between testing cycles. But those that never fall out are pretty darned consistent.
