[REQUEST] Windows 10 start menu broken

Clicking Windows logo or Cortana does nothing

Did everything I knew and researched

Powershell code, sfc, restart explorer. I was thinking just run setup with the most recent media tool. Any other ideas or experiences?

This worked for me when I had a blank start menu last week!

If you have issues following the instructions, or it is a PITA, you can paste this into a text editor such as notepad and save it with a .reg extension. Double-click it to import.

Then restart the computer. For this to work, you MUST be logged in as the user with the broken Start Button;since, this applies to HKCU. I have no idea if it would work if you changed it to apply to HKLM.

I think it was the fix I found here that worked for me (killing Cortana process).

Jim sent me this .reg file via Teams last week. Apparently there's a patch issue that can corrupt Cortana in recent updates. I haven't experienced it myself, but he said this fixed it for him. Use with care... it's a registry hack.

I know I'm way late to this particular party, but:

Britechguy’s Standard “Windows 10 Revival Script”

In a situation such as this, uninstalling the most recent update is the first thing to try, the SFC and DISM pairing the second, and a Repair Install (or Feature Update, if the machine is not up to the current Windows 10 Version) using the most recent ISO file the third.
