What router do you use in you shop?

I use a Cisco RV220W which goes to a Netgear 24 port Gigabit switch. I tried DDWRT once but just found it to flakey.

E3000 is a strong router and u can get it for about $60 newegg or less if its on sale! Works better than most $100+ routers IMO and has al the features.

Agreed...probably the best "sub 100 dollar router" out there (talking off the shelf boxed retail). Was their flagship model not long ago. One of the strongest radios out there. Decent throughput (~300 megs), very high concurrent connection count. I run it at home.

Our office couldn't run on a conventional sub 100 dollar router...we utilize too many public IPs, both cable and DSL, incredible amount of port forwarding, and very high concurrent connections which would bring home grade routers to their knees.

I've been thinking of setting up my old wireless router using dd-wrt. Where I live we split internet with the neighbors and only have wireless in my apartment. My main question is can I hook up an ethernet cable into a router using dd-wrt and get a wired connection. Probably a newbie question but thanks for answering anyways.

Yup....its LAN ports are just like any stock home router...just 4x switched LAN ports. DD even gives you some more features on certain models...like creating port based VLANs.

Or are you talking about wireless bridging? Yes..you can do that also.

Awesome! Well obviously DD-WRT was crafted by god himself and handed down to technicians for there wireless furthering needs.

It's pretty cool. Actually though, of the alternative distros for home routers, there are quite a few others....Hyper-wrt, Sveasoft Talisman, and my personal favorite...."Tomato".

I found Tomato much more "lean"...the router ran snappier. Not as many features as DD...but lets me honest..most people never touch the many features of DD. If all you need is stability and some good QoS...Tomato rocks!

I use mikrotik routerboard 750gl with wifi.

Netgear Prosafe VPN Router, handles the 30MB connection just fine and has decent admin console for what we need at the shop

In my House and my shop I use 2 x Cisco887w with their own DSL each

For my bench I use an old linksys rv02with 1 wan connected to my house 887w and the other wan to my shop 887w , I also have a AP netgear for repair wireless laptop

In my Cisco lab I use:
2x2950t, 3550, PIX515E, 1760, 2621, 2811, all cisco

I also have few cheap routers, 2wire, Lynksys, Thopsons, Netgear, D-Link, they are use only to test setup for customers.
