The problem is criminals now own guns still are they going to hand their weapons in dont think so. Was an incident the other day some fool in his car reached into his pocket to get a lighter for a cigi and fired his pistol into his testicle..wrong weapon

Middle Eastern crime gangs of course...
Personally I dont see the need to own a .50 Calibre rifle or high powered assault rifles, but thats my opinion.
That there is funny! I call that Darwinism...."elimination of the stupid!" 'cept sadly he didn't get eliminated. So he lives to go on a crime spree again!
Re: high power and assault rifles...even though I am "pro 2nd amendment"....and I've enjoyed shooting assault rifles, including full automatics in the past, I do agree we need better ways to control those these days.
And last night, in the US, we had another gun related tragedy....

We need to find a way to "connect the dots"...between people that have mental issues, and availability of guns to them, or in their homes. If you look at the history of more than 75% of the gun related tragedies in the US, such as shootings at school, it is usually a person with a history of...depression, mental issues, seeing a psychologist, etc. I know there are health privacy laws here...but re: guns, we need to tighten the rules there. This kid here in the story linked above...he was schooled at home, this tells me he was a socially challenged kid, and I'm willing to bet a few pints of Guinness we'll find out he'd been seeing a psychiatrist. The tragedy that happened not far from me a couple of years ago, at Sandy Hook School, that kid had a huge history of problems....and the mom had a huge collection of guns. She paid the ultimate price for that bad decision....IMO, if you have someone in your home who is disturbed in the head, you should not have weapons in the house.
Many of the shootings in the US...the person doing the shooting should not have been able to get their hands on a weapon with existing laws that were in place, but things fell through the cracks.
