Errors with Dell Reinstall Disc on Dell PC?

I have a few install discs for dells that ive collected and everyone gave a "Install Device CDROM/DiskDrive" error during the "Installing Devices" phase.. I press ok and the install finishes, boots to a BSOD.. Any reason why? Thanks

Either the Dell cd you are using has drivers for totally different hardware or the machine has had a hardware upgrade. If this is not the case then you have some bad hardware, most likely memory or hard drive. I would run a hardware test.

Either way it's got to bad drivers or bad hardware.

I agree with frostbyte. the cd's run an app to ensure that the PC is a dell if it is then it install if is not then it wont install. If anything was added to the machine it needs to be removed and the original component be added. I once had a PC that had additional memory and I could not run the cd until I removed extra memory.

the bsod code btw is 0x000007b - trying new HDD now.. the one i had in made a winding sound when i shook it

put in new HDD and it worked.. 3 bad hdds in this persons house.. wow

PS - I also used a different CD.. not a Dell one
