Hi, I have a customer who brought her computer to me complaining of warnings and popups, so I did my usual routine, startups, scans, etc. nothing. However she has this WOT Firefox add-on installed and I'm not familiar with it at all, anybody have any opinions or knowledge of its behavior?

WOT - Web of Trust. It's a good and useful add-on, at least it is for me. Not perfect by any means but largely beneficial.

If you attempt to go to a site listed by them as bad, it does result in a warning popup that you can click through to continue to the site or cancel the action.

I've never found it particularly intrusive or bothersome, but perhaps I'm not visiting the sites she visits. If a large number of WOT popups are bothering her, she might want to rethink her browsing habits.

Really good and you can customise, to a certain extent, the level of protection it offers. It should only flag up on "red" with a warning so like the others said, browsing habits might be to blame. I've not had it malfunction yet.

Imho WOT is the best safe searching software around and isn't intrusive unless you regularly search for dodgy sites...

Check the settings (right click on WOT icon) and make sure they set to default/recommended where applicable - on the Ratings tab you could uncheck 'child safety' if you want to reduce number of warnings for an adult.

WOT is available for IE etc too and is used by Facebook to rate web links posted there, helping warn of malicious links (about time too considering the amount of Facebook spam/viruses)
