Which SSD?

On a 2nd note has any one else noticing pricing creeping back up a bit.
Seem to be running about 10-20 dollars more than a year ago.
I was hoping they would keep going down!

Yeah in the past 4 weeks...I guess mostly about 2 weeks ago, big climb in price. Have noticed similar complaints (observations) in other online tech hangouts, and one or two of them pointed to some article about a "shortage" in certain components for SSDs...so the price hike is supposedly across all brands.

The price hike is around 20 bucks or slightly more...within just the past month!

SSD pricing is still absolutely ridiculous. I really need a 4TB SSD but I don't want to spend $1,500 for a freaking drive. I think we'll still be using spinning rust for storage in 2025. I'd really like to see 10TB SSD's for under $200, but at the rate things are going that probably won't happen until 2030 and by then we'll have 50TB hard drives and a single movie will probably take up 500GB on our 16k or whatever TV's.

I have a 1TB SSD for my most frequently accessed files, but every time I have to fire up the regular hard drive to access something on it, it takes forever (especially generating picture thumbnails). I didn't buy the 1TB SSD until it got down to $350 and I won't buy the 4TB until it gets to that price point either. Hopefully I'll have a 4TB SSD by 2020.

Some type of NAND shortage, from what I recall.... pricing of SSD's has gone up a good bit. Luckily I have SSD's already for both my primary desktop and primary laptop. Since I only very occasionally do break / fix for residential when I am doing PC repairs... I'm not that worried about it.

Hopefully by the time I ever go to buy another SSD, the price is back on the decline.

I've had good luck with Crucial drives. Samsung is good, I've also used SanDisk which seemed ok, as well as emtec.
