Which SSD?

I've looked and looked and spent a fair amount of time reading here but haven't come to any conclusion on what SSDs are most commonly used and recommended by techs. It seems the WD Enterprise Black has a bit of a consensus for spinning drives but I can't seem to find the same consensus for SSDs. Recommendations ladies and gentleman? (Or did I miss a thread where this was hashed out?)

@edit for future readers - Samsung Evo (or Pro) seems to have somewhat of a consensus even with the upscale pricing.

I have bought SSD Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB 2.5" SATAIII MLC (SHFS37A/240G) 4 months ago.
Since then ssd work perfectly, after I threw old hdd in the trash my life become easier))
My windows 7 load about 6-7sec

I'm using Samsung 850 Pro in my office machine although they tend to be expensive. Would never go back to spinning drive for boot up.

There are threads in the forum about the various brands though.....results may not be what you expect, e.g. I always buy Crucial RAM but there have been criticisms of their SSDs.

Your bound to get a lot of different answers in a diverse community such as TN. Thats not to say its not a good thing mind you. However, in answer to your question, I can only give you what I recommend to my customers and what I use for all my builds.

For business clients, to me, the choice is the rock solid Samsung 850 EVO series 250GB or 500GB. I have deployed well over 100 of these and have not had issues with them.

As for residential customers. I generally stick with Crucial MX300 275GB or 525GB.

You can use other brands like PNY or SanDisk if cost is an issue. But I have had a few failures with both of those brands. Regardless of which brand you choose, SSD's can and are a godsend for laptops. Less heat and not to mention can bring new life into an otherwise aging laptop which saves the customer money over buying a new one and gaining a customers business for further work down the road.

Samsung EVO or PRO lines, particularly if you want encryption that's built into the drive. It's hit or miss which other drives have it.

By now we have several hundred Crucial SSDs out there. We had 1x that seemed like it had a problem, laptop got rebuilt with a new drive, wiped the SSD, repurposed it...it's fine. Issue ended up being something else with the laptop.

Second most popular series out there is the Samsun Evos....I believe only 1 of those has failed. Had probably 50 of them out there.

Kingston, PNY, OCZ, Apacer, SanDisk, and especially Transcend...we've encountered bad ones and thrown out.

Think I have 1 or 2 ADatas out there...can't recall a problem.

Haven't sold or come across Intels in a while...the only brands I'd trust and sell is Crucial, Intel, and Samsung.

As always, for best practice, make sure whatever brand SSD you're selling/installing/supporting has the latest firmware on it. As well as a BIOS update on the host machine. Ensures best performance and compatibility.

Depends what the application is for. For my personal systems, it's a Samsung 850 Pro or Evo, no exceptions. The performance difference between the two is negligible, but the Pro uses better quality stuff and comes with a longer warranty. But seeing as I back everything up on a daily basis, reliability is a secondary concern. I used to only use the Pro drives, but now I'm almost all Evo.

For business clients, again Pro or Evo (90%+ Evo). Standard residential I use a mix of brands in order to minimize the risk. The TR150's are excellent drives, but they're discontinued now and the TL100's that replaced them absolutely suck. It's a constant struggle finding a good drive. But if cost isn't an issue, the Samsung's have always been the best.

100% Samsung. Samsung SSDs and a single 1TB WD HDD are the only parts I bother to inventory and keep in stock.

Crucial kind of put me off with all the new products, really working the lower price range. I've stuck with Samsung for the past couple of years and have no regrets.

I'll source whatever my client wants. If they have no preference or are not concerned with cost I'll use Samsung.
Had 2 Samsung back so far, both still in warranty, so no problems getting replacements.
Otherwise I'll use Kingston. Never had one Kingston SSD back since changing from OCZ/Toshiba.

Samsung EVO is my preferred pick - I have also found the Magician software to be the best for running automatically on boot to monitor the drive and firmware updates. Other mfg drives have similar software but either doesn't run on boot or pops up UAC notifications.

Crucial, Sandisk and OCZ (Toshiba) for regular end users, pricing good for a decent margin.
Steered cleared of Kingston last year, had many DOA and defective ones.

Samsung EVO for higher end needs/clients.

Samsung is my go to drive.
Never had an issue.
Have picked up a few PNY, SanDisk, Kingston, Crucial, on "specials".
Again never had one come back, only one DOA. A SanDisk I believe.
On a 2nd note has any one else noticing pricing creeping back up a bit.
Seem to be running about 10-20 dollars more than a year ago.
I was hoping they would keep going down!
