Please don’t feel bad for me! It’s the antiquated, narrow-minded thinking of those stuck in habit and too lazy to learn a new system that I feel sorry for. Some of you probably fought using that “stupid” mouse that only slowed us down. Windows XP was nasty and most old timers swore they would never leave 98.
My company deals with 99% personal computers and maybe this is the biggest reason for such a drastic difference of opinion. If you told me my manufacturing business had to get software redesigned for Vista that I spent thousands on a few years ago (waiting till all the 98’s died), I guess I would not like Vista.
Truth is that Vista is the easiest system Windows has ever had! For personal computing, you would be nuts not to want Vista. With 20 years of military experience and 10 years private-sector experience training people to use computers, Vista is the easiest to teach and to learn. Just like when we gave up totally using the keyboard and trying the mouse, it's only those who refused to conform and learn that stagnated, washed-out and never could play solitaire.
I know everyone is busy so don’t take this too personal but the number one reason for anyone to hate Vista is ignorance and/or lack of knowledge. If you took 1 or 2 hours training from someone skilled with Vista, you would never go back to XP! My techs are hooked! Backups and file location has never been quicker or easier. We archive an average of 100 backups a month. It was frustrating spending lots of valuable time searching. If you use Start>programs to open your programs, you are working too hard. For people visually impaired to be able to open programs with a few strokes or using voice is heaven sent. Some with shaky hands or who are slow benefit also.
The old fallacies (whining) about programs and software not working with Vista is not true. We install 99% of the over-the-counter software that customers bring in with their new computer setup. With a little effort and knowledge, just about any program made for XP and most made for 98 and even a few made for Win 3.1 & 95, will install and work. We average 20 new computers a week.
If you as a repairperson have a battery of stock programs to run, how could you not LOVE Vista over XP? It saves hours of bench time!
You can keep whining and lie to yourself and your customers. In a year or so your customer will come to you and say “Man, why did you talk me out of this new system?” Now he can be like that old guy on the corner still using dial-up and wondering why it takes forever to open any program because you just upgraded his system from 128mb to 256mb RAM!
Get real…..Vista is here to stay just like XP. And just like with XP the new Microsoft operating system started being developed the day Vista was released. If you are one of those having trouble going from XP to Vista, you are in the wrong business!
