Hi, I have a Dell 1501 that shuts down suddenly. (Vista home prem AMD 64 X2 dual core 2gb memory) This has come back to me because apparently I missed the cause last time, she had malware and too many startups and I ran hardware scans, it came through fine. So this time I installed speedfan and started 2 ie windows, outlook, photoshop, core temp peaked at 74C. Seems to run between 50-65C with just ie running. (I have just 50 processes running in task manager runs very fast and well, I also set Vista to best performance) I did blow air through the vents, its appears very clean. I left it running, came back 1/2 hr later, shut down. No logs either. Disabled hard drive shut down in power mgnt too. Customer clams the fans seems to run hard before it shuts down. Bad memory??? too high temps?
