Sorry, but didn't need a lesson on it. I know how it works and I know its Congress... And I really meant Congress. Just sometimes when I say Government... I'm really talking mostly about Congress. I know how everything works... I actually enjoyed a government class in college. I guess I will have to be more detailed and be more selective on the words I use; even when it comes to quick comments.
I didn't think that was your intentions either. I don't have any intent to offend anyone either. Sometimes I just get misunderstood especially in text because of my choice of words.
But anyways, I understand ya and we are both on the same page when it comes to this subject. And I agree we can blame everything on Congress cause thats where it starts basically.
SOPA/PIPA will only affect USA, they cant force ISP in other countries to shut down hosting. And they surely wont stop piracy. As one movie producer said, piracy is actually good for them because some people cant manage to get on time to watch some serial, and then they can watch it online even past seasons, which contribute to serial popularity and actors.

Very true... But in the USA they could make the ISPs block access to the other countries content. Sort of what is already being done in China and some others.

In a leaked letter sent to Spain's outgoing President, the US ambassador warned that if Spain didn't pass SOPA-like file-sharing site blocking law, Spain would risk being put into United States trade blocklist.

Other countries will follow like sheep. In Australia our government is just waiting to screw us over and the minute the US does it they will be all over it.
I think the thing to remember about laws such as these is that while they are touted up as wanting to stop piracy, they will never stop the pirates. The people who are serious about performing illegal activities will always find a way to do it. All that will happen is that it will hurt the person who doesn't pirate.
Plus there is the fact that there is no provision in the US Constitution for such a thing to happen.
Ask yourself the question. Do you have the right to filter your next door neighbor's mail that they receive because you think that they might be involved in something questionable? Do you have the right to go to their mailbox, pull out mail that you consider questionable, and prevent them from seeing it?
So, why does the Government have the right to try and do the same thing with the internet? The only power that a government can legally and morally execute is those rights that people can give to it.
You have the right to defend yourself and your property. So does your neighbor. Therefore the government can put together a police force, at the behest of the citizens, and use this police force to protect the people.
You do not have the right to take from your neighbor whatever your want. You do not have the right to force your neighbor to watch only specific TV shows and only read certain books. Therefore the government does not have this right either.
