Hi folks,
Hoping someone has able to get around this snag before and could help.
Model number is: PT321A-01K00201.
Broken power button, got a new one from EMPR, install new button. On startup I get hit with Password:_
Client has never setup one so I assume it's one of those Toshiba automatic over-reach.
Tried disconnecting CMOS battery and all power overnight, no help .
There could apparently be some default manufacturer code if anyone knows one please .

You have to be a Toshiba ASP in order to get access to reset codes. Some codes may be on various sites, but newer models use a challenge system where an ASP submits a password reset.

Older models do have a reset pad, where you short a specific pad on the board (usually under memory).

Thanks NviGate,
I couldn't see anything around the memory area that would look like the shorting pads mentioned in some of the topics found on forums.
The laptop is about 8-years old ~ part of older models?

Even though it's 8 years old by that time most of the OEM's had made mods to prevent those physical work arounds. Especially business class models like Portege.

Looks like I'll have to check pricing from Toshiba and let customer make a decision on this.
