Network asking for User name/password when connecting with wifi

I just spent an hour and a half in a room with no A/C battling this thing and I'm out of ideas.


Have a client who want to connect an All-in-one workstation to their wireless network. Supposedly it worked at some point before.


When you connect to their network (I verified it was the right network name and password) it asks for a user name and password. I've tried a couple of combinations and every time it tells me additional logon info is required. It never seems to ask for the wireless keycode.


I've tired about a half dozen things I found online... mainly manually setting up a wireless connection except when you choose WEP 2 Enterprise the box where you'd put the key won't let you enter anything into it!

I know it had some crappy version of Norton Antivirus which some people seemed to indicate caused issues, so I removed that first. No change.

Finally did a Factory Restore. Client didn't care - it was an extra workstation with no data they needed. They just called me a few moments ago to tell me it's doing the same thing!


I'm about out of ideas. They're closing in a few moments so I'm headed back tomorrow morning before I open to hopefully work it out, but I'm looking for any suggestions. I've never had a Windows 7 system do this before and all their other devices (tablets, desktops, laptops) are connected with no problems. It's just this one.

I had taken a new ASUS wireless adapter over in case that was the issue but I was hoping reloading Windows would do the trick. I may take the adapter back tomorrow if I can't work out some other fix.

Edit: I should mention that the computer had been successfully connected to some other network in the area - a neighbor's, apparently. It's just when it connects to the client's wireless network that it asks for these credentials and won't go farther.

Edit 2: I just read a Microsoft article that says it could be asking for the router's login and password, which I've never had happen before but apparently it's happened to some folks. So that's the first thing I'll try tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply.

Turned out we had to call the company that set it up (Meraki router) and it needed the biz owner's email address as the user name and some other password that he had forgotten. We went to dashboard.meraki.com and had a password reset form sent to the biz owner. Got a new password and logged in to the wireless with no problems.
