Recover locked/raw format SD cards-more

I just stumbled across this tool and it is awesome! I have been attempting to recover an SD card that is used for an outdoor infrared game camera and nothing was working, even a few of my trusty cmd. line tools weren't doing the trick.

Could not gain access to the card, could not recover files with ANY software, could not reformat card using windows or other tools. In disk management it was showing up as RAW format.

I finally came across the "SD Formatter 4.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC". - For Win/Mac.

With this tool I was able to brute force a reformat. After the reformat, I ran a couple of recovery tools and was able to pull almost 200 pics from the 128 mb card.

Client is happy!

Hopefully some of my fellow techs can make use of this one, especially since these SD cards can be so fussy at times.

There is also a user manual for the software - covers many versions of Windows. I d/loaded the Windows version to test.

Thought I'd bump this thread up, as I feel it is a valuable tool that should be part of every techs toolkit.

I posted this on the weekend, and most techs were probably off enjoying themselves instead of working into the wee hours of the morning as I was.
