Quick Q: How long can I use Win10 without activating?

My Mom needs a laptop for the sole use of a CD drive for about 10 days and I can't give her mine ... I grabbed one from the RIP Graveyard and through an old SSD on it with Win 10 home.

How long will it continue to function?

Its the Oct 2018 build of Win10

Internet says 30 days, I just wanted to check

Edit : Depending what she needs it for linux works great for internet and word processing and burning disks if the CD rom drive is what she needs to use?

I didn't want to have to deal with drivers on Win7. I don't know what she needs it for, she has a disc she got from work that has information on it for a case she is working on in HR.

He meant to use an old 7 key COA. When unactivated, You cant do any personalization and it will say activate Windows on the desktop..

It will give you a digital license for that board and stay activated BUT unless the coa is for and on THAT computer it is not "legit"

I was just expanding on the comment by @Tech bud

As for the Op it is possible the laptop had a coa on it.

I'm pretty sure a lack of activation will never make the unit fault, it will just go into limp mode somewhere around a month in, where only a single core can be used. But I'm pretty sure you're good for even two weeks at full functionality.

But yeah, if that boneyard unit has a 7 sticker on it, stuff that into the Win10 installer and upgrade that thing!
