I've replaced probably over a thousand laptop screens in my time, but I always make sure to buy the EXACT model replacement screen down to the letter. What I want to know is when looking at a screen model number like this:
LP140WH8 (TP)(D2)
Is it okay to buy a replacement screen with the exact same model, but with for example (TL)(C1) instead of (TP)(D2)? I assume those are internal references used by the manufacturer of the display, but I did notice some differences. For example, the (TL)(C1) is a glossy instead of a matte display - but everything else is IDENTICAL (resolution, orientation of the connection, screw standoffs, etc.).
I've never wanted to risk incompatibility so I've always gone with the exact model (even the alphanumeric in the parentheses), even if it costs a few dollars more. Am I just costing my clients more or am I right to only order the exact model?
