Now that is getting cooler weather, what do you guys wear to the job-site? Being that I am a mobile tech I dress in a short sleeve polo shirt and khakis. However its getting a bit chilly for short sleeves now. Any ideas, thoughts or examples?

Certainly nothing wrong with a nice long sleeve button up shirt with your logo on it. Jacket too. And khaki's still work.

Or were you asking something else?

We are onsite as well and wear either short sleeve or long sleeve button down shirts with a magnetic name badge, black or khaki dress pants, and dress shoes. It presents a great professional appearance.

People have asked "Don't the button down shirts get too dirty or uncomfortable?" We don't crawl around in nasty places and we stay away from lighter colors like whites and yellows so we tend to not have any problems. Next year we'll move to embroidered Adidas/Nike polos. Will do either mock turtlenecks (a la Steve Jobs) enbroidered for cooler months or long sleeve UnderArmor under the polo shirts.

Currently I wear Jeans and a grey logo polo shirt.

Sometimes if its a long distance customer ill wear shorts and my logo polo.

Going to be changing to Jeans/khakis and a black logo'ed polo

I have a strict rule about clothes when dealing with customers. I always wear them.

You haven't lived until you've done on-site service calls at a nudist colony:eek:

Here in central Florida, we have quite a few "nature resorts" and I've done probably a half-dozen calls in them over the last couple of years, but the customers were always senior citizens.

p.s. and yes, I always wear clothes on those calls!

I think jeans and a polo is understandable, especially if you're going to have to be bending over, bending down, to get to a PC to work on it at a client's home. I think they'd understand that you'd like to be comfortable while working.

Too bad that rule doesn't always apply to the customer. :(

I had a customer once that I mean quite literally came out of her bedroom half naked. I'm not sure what she would have come out in had I not had my Girlfriend/Business Partner with me. http://www.technibble.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif The freakiest thing about it was she was about 40 years older than me and wasn't exactly the best looking person in the world.

On the original posters subject, I just wear my leather jacket over top of either a long sleeve shirt or a polo, and khakis. Then again I live in Florida so it doesn't get that cold during the day normally.

I live in a small East Texas town and dressing down is the norm. Bankers don't wear ties, the financial advisers wear khakis and polos and it does downhill from there on Fridays. I wear nice blue jeans, a pair of boots and an ironed polo or wrong sleeve shirt, depending on the weather. I've never felt under dressed anywhere I went. Blue jeans and boots is pretty much acceptable anywhere here. Heck it's what most people (including me) wear to church on Sunday. I figure if it's good enough for church, it's good enough for my customers.:D

Well here in UK its starting to get nippy - Frost on car this morning.

I wear black trousers, polo shirt with logo. When it gets colder I've got sweatshirt and fleece all with logos as well.

Only once wore jeans and got looks from client, might have been my imagination, but since then simple cotton trousers, not expensive seeing as most time seem to be kneeling on floors under desks.

Usual wear is my "bowling shirts" http://db.tt/PxdPF5CF with my company name and jeans or shorts (I'm in Arizona, it's hot here lol). Dress up is a blue polo shirt with embroidered company name and black slacks. If I'm out in the community (small town) I wear an embroidered tee in either blue or black and whatever else.

ok so I figure my "uniform" will be the combat type work trousers, a logo polo and a logo fleece jacket.

Something like this...

And a dark polo and fleece.

Any UK based guys recommend any business to do the logo'd polo etc?

I got mine from MI Supplies Ltd. Happy with end product and price. Just asked for a price on amount and Sheryl very helpful.

Their prices though for your Snickers is way above link you have. Polos etc I found reasonable and nice quality.

Those are all good suggestions... Just get your business name embossed on the shirt.

Managers should, of course, be differentiated; they should probably wear a tie or something.
