Novel Ideas on handing over paperwork?

Ok so when I finish a job the customer gets:
completed invoice, keeping computer free from virus info sheet, tweak and tune up service info sheet, review website invite a few business cards and maybe also some other paper work.
So im trying to think of a decent way to present all this to them so it gets read and doesnt all end up in recycling as soon as i've left, at the mo I try and fold it neatly in an envelope but wanted some other ideas along the booklet line??
Any ideas?
how do you present yours?

I think thats overkill. I would never leave anything like that. I have been doing this for 10 years and none of my clients have the inclination to value anything like that. They want a working computer and they want a bill to pay me (which I do via email if requested.).

My clients are computer USERS not enthusiasts, which is why they have to call me. I guess I would liken it to a plumber leaving detailed list of every part and glue type to fix a leak and instructions on how not to clog a toilet. Seems to me few people would want such details and no one would ever read it. Either they throw it away or file it in a drawer somewhere creating clutter.


I think sometimes presenting a "professional" package is something that makes us as a IT support person seem more important. But realistically I think the clients simply want the problem fixed quickly so they can get back to work.

I think a sticker on a PC with your phone number is something simple & serves a purpose is all you may consider doing.

Just my two cents.

I would agree here but that's just me.

Have you gotten feedback from your current customers on what they think? If you find out what they tend to look at or not look at you can probably tweak your packet.
 
I print 2 receipts, one for them to keep and the other is for me which I get them to sign confirming the work was done to their satisfaction. I also give them a copy of the signed service agreement (required before any work is done). That is all I actually put in their hand.

I will, at times, leave a pdf on their desktop but I always make sure to drag my favicon to their desktop creating a shortcut to my website.

Lastly, I have a customer portal on my website where customers can log in using their credentials provided to them when their service request was created. There they can view/download past invoices and estimates, view the status of an open job, send me a message, etc.

After a week or so, I follow up with a survey via email and a phone call to make sure everything is OK.
 
Im still p/t at the moment so vast majority of my customers are home users, so, for example, when I hand them their invoice for replacing thier smashed screen, i would like to hand them some info to say 'if your computer or you know a friend who's computer needs a tweak in future this is what we can offer'
 
I think its a good idea as it sets you apart from others that are out there (as long as you don't go over the top).

Thanks, its just simple advertising, as far as I can see...the same as car brochures, home brochures, kittchen appliances, bank loans...etc etc, i was just after a unique way to present it so it doesnt get binned .
 
I guess thats my point, you want a unique way to get someone to keep something that they have no need for and are likely to throw away. They should want to keep it because they need it or it provides value to them, not because its in a shiny package. To me its just clutter. Best case they are going to file it away and rarely, if ever see it. Most likely they will hold on to it for a few weeks, come across it in the pile of junk and bills and then throw it away.

I would think a fridge magnet or a mousepad with your logo and contact info would be a a better item to leave them with. Not only does it promote your business but provides them with something of use.

yea, its all appreciated.
I have looked into mouse mats and branded usb sticks and pens etc, but wanted something more unique.
 
Seems like a lot, have you considered getting some folders with your logo/contact information on it? That way you can stuff all the paperwork in there, and they may even use the folder in the future.

Even folders without your logo on them! We have been using simple black folders for years. a High number of customers keep them in their laptop bag so when they come back there are our forms.

We order in bulk from staples (Just black 2 pocket folders with a place for a buisness card.) I would love to order premium custom folders but just can't justify the cost.

they sound like the 4" x 9" I been lookijng at.
 
we just give the customers a job sheet of whats been performed on their system in brief terms (printed direct from PCRT) because occasionally people ask what exactly we do.. these sheets give enough info to satisfy their curiosity without killing them with 'geek speak' as they put it, usually its a single page or 2 pages at the most.
most of the customers just skim quickly over it and dont really read it, the ones that wanted to know something paticular will either ask or they've googled for it already! :)
