HP Pavilion Slimline s3000 Desktop Computer – Windows Vista Home Premium x86;
Recently had this in for a factory restore. After updating, installing all user pgms., transferring data back to the pc, I notice that I.E. 11 hangs forever when you close it.
The spinning ball appears and will not go away. Also, when downloading anything via. I.E., when it gets to the end (99%) and is calculating the remaining time, it will also hang there forever even though the download is complete.
FF works just fine, this only affects I.E. If I kill the process it will close. Also, even though it will not close you can bring up other windows (FF) or open other programs and the pc will function normally with I.E. hung in the background.
Google yields little helpful info. on this, other than to use FF or downgrade I.E. to an earlier version. I am using I.E. on a family laptop with Vista and all is well with that...
I hadn't really checked out I.E. before returning the laptop as the client mentioned that they wanted FF installed - so I "assumed* they were just going to use that browser. I've remoted in to check out this issue, but haven't received the laptop back yet to work on it in depth.
I am thinking an offending update from MSoft broke it. Anyone run into this before? Ideas?
