had a customer move her phone/internet/dvr cameras due to a remodel
i moved her cameras/internet/network for her no problem, was just laying down new cables pretty much
i was working side to side with phone guy
phone guy had no idea what he was doing (he didn't even have a toner.. didn't even know what it was
)
he didn't have enough wire, so i let him use some cat5e for like 20 bucks
he got most of em right.. he just moved the phone lines basically, but the phones dont hunt properly.. my customer has 9 lines, they hunt and credit cards work but after call 5, it skips over to call 7, same with call #8 it skips and just goes to 9
my customer was very happy with my work, but she said the phone guy won't pick up the phone any more
he also left exposed wires everywhere, and i think for restaurants its illegal for certain parts of the restaurant.. the guy didn't have a punchdown.. he would just strip the wires and put them into the jack and do it via quick crimps..
i have no idea about phones, but some people say phones are alot easier than crimping rj45.. which is simple enough to me.. just takes a while
anyone an expert? just wondering since i might as well expand my knowledge if not i'll tell her to call another phone guy (he charged $500) so shes not too keen.. (i think she talked him down to half and half or something)
