MS Office Starter Update

I knew a windows update did this when I got calls from half my client base about this. If you have anybody on Windows 7 with the Office Starter edition they're probably running into this problem with changed file associations.

YES!

I just had an EPIC row with a customer over an MS Office license because of this!!

Definitely an issue to be aware of!

I actually ran into this issue last week. The client could open .doc files but not .docx files. If I clicked on a .docx file it would open the Office Pre-Installed window that has the three choices of Purchased/Purchase/Try. What I did at the time was I uninstalled the Office 2010 Pre-Installer but left the Office 2010 Starter - afterwards .docx files opened properly.

I've also seen this too. 2 different customers in the last week or so and another just last night.

That is what I did to fix the issue that occured a couple of weeks ago.
