Maximum speed of DVD Burners so far??

CD burners have now good speed for burning cds fast and easy. I wanted to buy a DVD burner, but some months ago, burning speed wasn't fast, about 2-8x. I want something faster.
Is DVD burner's burning speed such as 24-32x?? or are still developing them?

DVD burning doesn't go by the same speeds. A factor of 1x in DVD measurements is equal to 9x in CD measurements - so an 8x DVD would burn as fast as a (theoretical) 72x CD burner. An 8x DVD usually gets burned in about 7 minuts, which is pretty fast.

DVD burner speed also depends on your pc hardware if you got a p3 500mhz pc and 256 mb ram and xp on it and trying to burn with 16x dvd burner you will still end up taking either 15 to 30 mins. So speed is relative to cpu power. And its best to burn at half the max speed of any writer.
