We have been using instant housecall and have been satisfied with the service. I think they may be on the lower cost side. We are up for renewal and was wondering if the grass is greener somewhere else. We would be happy paying for better quality if some other services are worth it. Have any of you used instant housecall as opposed to something like logmein or other bigger players and noticed a difference in using it?

I use Teamviewer. The last time I checked instant Housecall was much more expensive than my TV subs.
The cheapest tier for Instant Housecall is US$29 p/m which is AU$38 p/m x 12 = AU$456 per year. This gives you co-branding whereas Teamviewer only costs me AU$269.00 per year with my own branding on the quick support modules.

Teamviewer looks to be about $45/month were I live ($540/annually); you are lucky still with that half-price Australia pricing? :)

Holy crap Batman! I just checked their website. They want AU$47.90 p/m now!
My TV subs are due in about 2 weeks so I'll see what they want from me then.

There are many many remote support tools out there, so others will chime in I'm sure.

The remote support and RMM threads have been coming fast and furious lately.

As mentioned before, for those that want to get away from monthly payments and own and run on their equipment there is SimpleHelp. I'm not sure why so many continue to pay monthly. Those are the kind of expenses I like to avoid.

No it actually doesn't @glennd
Their pricing is way more than TV at US$300 = AU$394 per session/per year. Updates and upgrades extra.
TV subs include upgrades and updates.
No own branding, no custom module, I think I'll stick with TV.

Then there's that whole "self hosted" thing...

I didn't read it as "per year". It says "$300 per session. Support and upgrades included for 1 year."

Then there's the whole self hosted thing which I would do if I thought it was worth my while...

The $300 is "forever" for a single live session and/or to support 1,000 machines on remote monitoring. Server requirement are minimal. Self branding is easy. The whole setup is simple (ahem.... SimpleHelp). It runs headless as a service on your server and you access the details through a client logged in as admin. They offer free also for trials. Online support documentation has been good enough I've never needed to tap their live support. I'm not here to wave their flag per se. I'm just surprised so many prefer to keep paying every month when there are other alternatives.

I used Instant Housecall at a previous MSP, absolute garbage, it works but very slowly and glitchy and once you have bought the product you don't get updates to newer products unless you pay full price - again.
