I got a request for putting in a security camera system

We bought 1x Pro
What did you think of the Pro?

I like Ubiquit's stuff, but I found the Pro a little disappointing, considering the price. It's about 3 times more expensive than TrendNet's TV-IP310PI, which has a much superior image quality. I do prefer Ubiquiti's NVR software though.

In the future, check our nelley's security. They deal with dahua, hikvision and eyesurv which are all basically the same. Run it all onvif to one of their nvr's. They practically set themselves up. The quality is amazing and they stand behind their products often providing 3 year warranty's.

I'll admit I expected more out of the Pro.
While I find the standard models have great IQ for the price (just over a hunned bucks)....the Pro model, at around 4 times the cost, does not have 4x times the IQ. The unit is definitely much heavier duty, outdoor beefiness, has the IRs. But not at around 4 hunned clams....there are better brands out there in this price range.

I have yet to really play with it at night to check out the IR effectiveness.

Thanks,

I'll check them out.

We use the ubiquiti stuff... iirc the pro model is a little older... should be a replacement coming in the next year or so if I've heard correctly.... the nee micro units are slick for wifi cams but the uvc domes are probbly my favorite great quality mics too.

Yeah I was actually impressed with the IQ of that little 80 something dollar wireless micro camera. Although initial setup was a quick little learning curve...but makes sense since it's wireless only but wish they stuck an ethernet port on it for quicker config. But then it wouldn't be under 90 bucks suppose...

Didn't know the Pro model was older, though all the new UVC lineup was barely a year old. I know they had a prior "AirCam" lineup which wasn't too well reviewed.

I do couple a year and i always use Lorex.as far as the cabling I sometimes use cat5e with BNC ballun at the end. But if i used BNC end cable (RG 59) I use 12 power box next to the DVR. But brandwise my recommendation will be Lorex.

I have always had goo luck with HIKVISION cameras and NVR's. They have many camera models to choose from with a wide range of features.

My preferred value camera is HIKVISION DS-2CD2232-I5-4MM. ($120-150 each) It has awesome image quality for the price and good IR. Also their cameras are plug and play with the NVR's. The NVR's also have a built in POE switch!
