Security Camera Idea

Just want to see if I am crazy for this idea. I know that the camera is not the preferred camera but I am looking at setting up some TP-Link Kasa cameras outside for security. The reason for these cameras is my home is already using the smart plugs by TP-Link so I am in the ecosystem. Want to make it simple for the spouse so I don't need a second app for video only. The cameras are wifi and powered via a ten-foot USB-A cable hard-wired to the camera. Here is my thought. I am looking at putting a POE switch in the garage and running outdoor Cat-5e to each of the cameras where I will use a POE to USB converter to power the cameras. This will allow me to run the cable to cameras for when I can actually splurge on IP-wired cameras so the cabling will already be in place. I will probably purchase one camera and an adaptor to test to see if my idea will work. Here is the equipment I am looking at.

I know it is not the preferred solution, but looking to use this until I can splurge on a whole new system. I figure this at least gives me the wiring runs all ready for when I do upgrade.

Honestly, I think that should work just fine... and I agree with your thinking and upgrade path for wired in the future/POE, makes sense to me.

The power rating on the POE to USB adapter should be way more than enough to power that camera.
