Lets see, in the 70's I had my own sideline business as a professional photographer doing weddings and portraits (added on a second story to our house so I could have a "studio" setting) but I dropped that after someone store a motorized Hasselblad setup at a wedding reception.
In 1983 we bought two Kawasaki Jetski's (the standup kind) and loved riding those. It would take me about 5 minutes after hooking up the trailer to my vehicle, to be out of the water. Lived close to where the San Joaquin and Sacramento rivers merge in the Delta are of San Francisco. Loved having the young relatives come to visit and teaching them how to Jetski. Stopped riding about the mid 90's as laws were taking too much fun out of it... 5 mile limits near the shore, no taking off right from the beach, no spraying the people on the beach as we race into the beach and make a sharp turn... my son was riding at the age of 6, now you need to be 14. Oh yeah, no more jumping the wakes of boats, damn, takes all the fun of riding those things. When I first got the Jetski's if you saw three on the water, two of those were mine, it was pretty new in 1983. As time passed it seemed like everybody had to have a pickup truck with a Jetski in the back.
I'm back into motorcycle riding, for the past year it's been a sport bike, 2006 Yamaha FZ6 (600cc) and for the prior 6 years, a Ninja 250cc. Had a Kawasaki ZL600 in the 90's but I left it standing up in the rear wheel well of a car that decided to do a U-turn in front of me. Started riding in 1965 on a new Honda Scrambler at the age of 21 and received one lesson on it before I rode it home that night after work.
I love finding good deals on computer equipment and every chance I get I combine my love for riding with compute parts purchasing. Fortunately I have a nice large laptop backpack that I can stuff as many as 10 - 14" laptops into it. Makes for one heavy load but if I adjust the straps looser it can rest on the back seat. With all my buying and some selling on Craigslist, I've made some great contacts. I now have a seller of new Dell laptops and a buyer who can purchase just about all I can get, so I get to combine my three loves - finding good deals, riding my motorcycle and making money.
California is a state where we can make a right hand turn on a red light (after first stopping and making sure it's safe) and it's not illegal to "share the lane" while riding a motorcycle. Around here we have the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to ride down to Malibu and many roads leading into the hills that we can ride and we also have the Rock Store
http://www.rock-store.com/ where you can meetup with guys like Arnold and Jay, though I've never been there when were there. I HATE WAITING so riding a motorcycle, sharing the lane and being the fastest thing moving on the road suits me just fine. I ride with a Sena attached to my helmet so I can take calls and take videos as I ride.
