Hobbies Thread

Musician here. I've played my whole life. Guitar, Mandolin, Piano/organ, Pedal Steel, Dobro/banjo, Bass, stuff like that. I have about 25 or so various stringed and other instruments. I try to play them all on a regular basis.
I enjoy recording performances mixing and producing the results.
and my bike.

All self-taught or did you get some formal "skoolin?"

I'm getting back into it. Broke down and bought a new bike, Jamis Satellite Comp. Used to do a lot of riding up until the late 90's. Close to 3k miles a year. Certainly tough getting back into the swing of things. I really need to get hooked up with some local riding groups.
When the "Tour Down Under" comes here the roads are a nightmare! Cyclists from other countries have no idea or regard for our road rules!

I can add another thing I'm getting back into, shooting, indoor target practice. Starting to spend time at the range. Growing up, my dad did a lot of competition pistol shooting.

Shooting is something I'd love to get into more but being in the UK there are far less opportunities. I used to fire my crossbow and pistol when my brother lived at a farmhouse but there really aren't many options for me. I've recently moved to a new area so hoping to find somewhere local to do it.

Funny you should mention that. I'm doing clay pigeon shooting and archery (for my first time ever) in Cheshire this weekend. It was an 'experience day' birthday gift I bought for my girlfriend last year.
It was something she asked for .... I just hope I'm not the intended target!

Sounds awesome, let us know how you get on! (and if we don't hear from you then we know what happened! ;) )

Well, I'm still alive. ;)

And I learned that I'm pretty good at aiming a gun (missed very few clays) but I'm hopeless with a bow and arrow.

Next time I'm faced with a duel, choosing my weapon will be easier.

T'was good fun though :) We went here: http://mickleyhall.com

Haha yeah they're very hit or miss even after a while. Site looks pretty good, will have to bear it in mind next time I'm in that direction!

For me - Guitar playing and music recording/production (was a Rock & Roll live sound tech in another life), RC airplane build/fly, aquarium, gardening, dirt bike (motorcycle) riding/restore (have 3 classics), canoeing/fishing/jet-ski/tubing (live on a lake) and of course computers for over 30+ years.

When I was young my Dad and I used to go bird hunting sometimes. In '71 or so, during a family trip to London, not only did I go to Holland and Holland's store in London, we went to their proving grounds for a lesson.

That must have really been something. I know a couple of guys around here that are into German Drillings. Man, talk about a shooting hobby. I thought I was paying a lot for a Walther AC41 P.38 1st Variation.

Wow. And I thought I was being posh going shooting at Mickley Hall. Holland & Holland make Mickley Hall look like some sort of hillbilly amateur shooting club. They even have their own exclusively commissioned Range Rover; how posh is that!

Accents and bank balances aside, looks like a very similar experience though.
