F.C.C. Repeals Net Neutrality Rules

@ohio_grad_06 You have to see the irony in a Trump supporter that is excited for a gov't run internet service. $30/mo? Subsidized. Hand out... or so we would be told.

I'm interested to know what the list of Trump accomplishments you would consider good, considering there are hardly any campaign promises that have been kept. PM me if you're willing - I know the site is largely anti-politics and OP is irrelevant to that conversation.

I'm pretty much for everything except that lol. Even if he's done something things wrong, I'd much rather him in than Obama, at least he seems to actually care about the country vs going on apology tours all the time. Just an opinion.

That said, the govt run service, to be honest, thought they did a big waste of money, but you can't tell people anyway. It's something the city did for whatever reason, even though they already had charter and I think Frontier available in the area and maybe a fixed wireless of some type.

It's still hard to argue the price is pretty good though. But I would say they probably needlessly spent millions to get all the fiber run plus all of their agreements etc. However, since it's already in place, it is cheaper than what I pay now, and hopefully would not be as subject to data caps etc as a company seeing as how I don't think they are serving out their own content etc.

To each his own. You will find no love from me on Obama, but simply because it isn't Obama doesn't mean you should like him.. IMO, caring for the country wouldn't include doing everything you can for the 1% (I thought it was drain the swamp?).

Thanks for the reply though, bud. We all have our opinions. :)

I'll just say pretty much everything about Obama ticked me off, the way that he basically apologized for everything our country stood for, to the way he handled ISIS, healthcare, and just his attitude in general. He came off to me as not really having a clue what he was doing, and as arrogant like he knew everything. The vibe I felt was like he was trying to look down on people like he knew better than we did for our own lives.

Never sat right with me. I used to be a democrat actually until 2008. I was I suppose a moderate democrat. In fact, in 2008, I voted for Hillary in the primary. But when Obama got in, he pushed things so far left, that I went the opposite direction and became republican.

Trump, he may not be the best guy, but what I told people was I felt like he already had all the money and the power a person could want, and I felt like I could trust him more than the other candidates, because in my mind, he could have retired somewhere and not had all the headaches he is dealing with as President. I also do like the fact he's pulling back a lot of the regulations in many areas.

I felt like Hillary would have just been a continuation of Obama. I have no love for Bernie's ideas, but I would have almost rather had him in there than Hillary though. But I don't think you could ever have paid for his ideas. I just feel like the democratic party has gone so far left, I can't support them any longer. Especially with some of the things on abortion, etc. Being a a Christian, I can't stand for abortion and other socialistic type ideas that have cropped up. I'm not out to bother anyone for example who say may be gay or whatever, that is their business, not mine, but didn't like how a lot of those things were being pushed as normal. To me, I can't help what people do, but I can agree to disagree if that makes sense.

For example, I am from southeast Ohio originally, and there were a lot of coal mines etc in that area. The coal in some of the area is actually coming back a bit. Which is good because that area of the country is a very poor area.

I do however have my questions as to how no net neutrality will affect things. I am hoping that maybe it will spur competition like they are saying, but again, I wonder, however, I'm hoping for the best. But we are apparently along for the ride now lol.

As for the 1%, the figure I heard is that 80% of people will see a tax cut. As far as draining the swamp, I think he is attempting to, but I think you have a lot of Obama era holdovers in a lot of places that are desperately fighting everything he's trying to do tooth and nail. I also think he knew some things, but didn't realize how deep the swamp was.

It is interesting to watch however as things happen. I keep saying he's like teflon. As a Christian, I believe God is protecting him. Think about it, they've hit this dude with everything, and nothing seems to stick to him. Even if he does nothing for 8 years but rattle cages, that may do a lot to help the country.

@ohio_grad_06 Hit me up in a PM - The New Zealand Guy doesn't like discussing US stuff on the Australian board. Lol.

But seriously, you and I have some good back and forth's - maybe you can teach me a few things and I can teach you a few things. You're a smart dude but I think you're taking the Trump bait, hook line and sinker - that's not an appeal to change but certainly an invitation to discussion.

Example, the tax cut - 80% of millionaires will get a tax break. Meanwhile, as of tonight, the actual numbers (not the rhetoric) are this:
Biggest tax increase in American History, by far
1.5 Trillion goes to the Deficit over 10 years
$6 Trillion in windfalls for the exclusively rich

That's a $4.5 Trillion dollar increase on the Poor and Middle Class.

You will likely get a "tax-cut" this year and/or next, but that is by design to try and pass the bill. The Tax brackets change over a 10-year period, as such, your taxes will creep up over the next 10 years to pay back the $4.5 Trillion! It's in the bill.

If you like PM me sometime. I don't know everything to be sure. But on the taxes, I would say this, show me a congress, republican or democrat, that 10 years from now, will willingly raise taxes on the middle class.

They will want to be re-elected, so I don't know that I see them doing that.

Two things:

1) Repealing Net Neutrality (or any part of it) isn't finalized yet. It still has to go through congress and a lot of states can and will be suing over this. It's not a done deal. Not saying it won't happen, but it's not done and over with just yet.

2) The "tax hike" isn't on the poor and middle class.... just the middle class. Why do I say that? The poor do not pay taxes, at least not very much. They often get back MORE in taxes than they pay in. It's the middle class that would be the ones to get it stuck too even harder. The middle class is the laughing stock of the financial bracket. We are that one segment that gets picked on, and no one is going to change that. Why? Because it right now picking on the middle class means the lower and higher class folks get to eat some of the middle class lunch. Why pay your fair share if you don't have too? That's the attitude. The poor hit the lottery every year at tax time, get handouts, free medical, food stamps, utility assistance, free or low cost housing.... and the high class either have loopholes to exploit or make enough that they really don't "need" to care... but the more you "help them out" on taxes... the more of a vote you have coming your way.

So now you have everyone but the middle class on your side, how hard is it going to be to stay in office. Sure you have the majority of the middle class ****** off at you, but thats only 1/3 of the "class system".

By the time it's all said and done, I really am in the lower class. I just work two jobs, upwards of 60 hours a week to get there. Since I earn what I do, I get no handouts or help, I pay a hefty health care premium with a big deductible, and more than the average minimum wager worker earns each year in taxes. Whats left at the end isn't very much, and as stated I had to go to college for five years (which I'm still paying for) to earn the degree necessary to get the job I have... and I have to get out of bed and work an average of 12 hours a day every day. Meanwhile, Joe Schmoe on wellfare can roll out of bed at noon, grab his check out of the mailbox, go cash it and hit the pub. No worries about the bills or putting food on the table, that comes out of my pocket via the tax dollars I pay.

Rant aside, what I said is true. I don't see things changing for the middle class. When the majority benefits, and they are happy about it... there isn't any reason to want to change things. Being in the middle is just a fools game. Unless you can figure out a way to hit that upper class income / asset level... your better off just staying in bed and mooching off the system.

As another aside, the saddest thing about Net Neutrality being possible repealed is that it's nothing more than a pecker match between the Republicans and the democrats. It was such a great idea to have 5 people on the committee, so that there HAD to be a majority of one party or another. So that when a new party "comes into power" they can just piss on whatever the last party tried or wanted to do. That is all this is, just a political wiener measuring contest. No care goes into what the consequences actually are, just to see how bad you can rib the other side.
