If you have something else that will list your services, and you plan on doing some kind of referral program, then putting the referral form on the back would make sense.

The card looks very good and professional.

The only thing I can think of adding would be an address (Obviously if your working from home and you dont want everyone and their mother knowing your address then you wouldnt do that), so maybe whatever town/city/region you live/ work in so you don't get calls from people in places you would never travel to.

Yeah im just starting out so im working from home.
Ive been just doing word of mouth work and its been going pretty good.
Im just going to pass out em around town so i highly doubt ill have someone from 100miles away'ville contacting me. So ill probably leave the address our city out!

Yeha im still working on a referral program.
After i get established and start doing well im thinking of setting off like a Raffle every six months.

Idk something small a camera or a free Virus removal.

It's not bad, but you're falling into the same trap I fell into when I first started doing graphic design. The design is too busy and the yellow on red could be difficult to read for those with less-than-ideal eyesight.

Instead of using a red fade behind the name and number text, maybe use a white or yellow one, so that you can use black text for that portion.

I'll second the domain suggestion. If you don't want to get a domain, at the very least, go with Gmail. I'd trust a tech who uses a Live email address only slightly more than one with an AOL addy, it's really that bad.

I got my friend to make the card for me because i dont have photoshop on this computer yet.

I kinda liked the orange, but i just texted him and told him to make a few in some different colors.

I used ".Live" because all the Other domains "JAETECH" was taken and its short and simple
easy to remember.

I do have a gmail,and at&t(the att is my private email) but oh god it takes forever to find a good email that someone hasnt already thought of.

now some may disagree with this, but I have come to distrust people with shiny/busy looking business cards. Even if you don't get that printed on shiny paper, It is still too busy IMO. I prefer to have something simple, informative, and straight to point with a subtle design. Anyway, I suggest fading the background out and use text with more contrast.

If your market is business, not having a physical address is a negative in my opinion. My market is the home user and the business name is simple "Family Computer Repair" and the motto or tagline is "Repair - Restore - Renew - Upgrade". My client is the soccer mom or dad with a family computer that has been messed up by the 13 year old kid.

Right now my market is only the home user, but what about when i expand? I dont want to have to change my name.

If i get into networking instead of just being the "friendly neighborhood comp repair guy" my name wont work.

I like your logo, but maybe you should add buttons to your page. Instead of it being just one big scroll down.

I'll be completely honest, but don't take this the wrong way. I just don't want to tiptoe around my opinion here.

The only thing I consider less professional than crazy color schemes is inverse typography; black backgrounds with white text drive me batty. You look at any Fortune 500 company website, you won't see a black background with white text except perhaps on a heading or in a logo. As a general rule, it's too jarring and bleak to use on the entire layout.

I'd just invert the entire design and you'll be looking a lot better. If you want to keep the logo inverted, or keep headings like that, then more power to ya. It might even look good. Also, I'd second the other poster who said to split your content into multiple pages and add a menu. But fix the colors first.

Please don't think I'm being mean, because I'm speaking from personal experience: My FIRST company stuff used to be white text on dark grey. I look back now and shudder at the thought.

White text on black just doesnt work. Its one of the reasons that schools are switching from chalk to dry erase boards, people just dont retain things that are written in white on a black background.

IMO When I see a website with only one page on it I think that either the owner of the site is unprofessional or just lazy. Maybe add a page about your self and a page explaining what exactly some of your serivices are (ie Explain what a network is and maybe some potential customers might hire you to set up a network, or explain things like what you do for a new computer setup that would make them want to pay you plug something when they could ask their son/nephew/whatever to come over). You also talk about switching to Linux/Open Source, maybe have a page explaining what these are and what programs you would recomend (I know you have the link on your page but why not put a page in your own words?)

Thats just what I think, Im no expert on web design or the computer serivce industry but I have picked up a few things here and there on how to get peoples attention and how to sell things to them.

I don't think there is a need for glossy cards, and Im assuming that its cheaper to get regular paper. My advice is to shop around, I've seen companies charge almost twice as much for an idential card as other companies do.


Also, I agree with the suggestion to register a domain and setup an email address there however jaetech.com is already a registered domain, some Chinese site, so you'll have to pick a different name for your domain.

I tried to get a domain off the bat
but since jaetech was taken i got live.com
Is there any site in particular i should look at when registering ?


Glossy paper costs more and i figured some people end up throwing them away.
It makes me angry inside but its the truth.
Plus, the glossy paper is hard to write on and how would my referral part of the card work.

I think on the business card the white on black will be less of an issue. The orange seems to harsh to me, even worse than the white on black.
