Hello Guys,

I thought I'd share this with you fellow techies. AVG has decided to offer their Rescue CD for FREE, my guess its that they went away from Microsoft WINPE environment to using linux Distro. Well here you go, enjoy.

Ah, can't post links yet... .a%v%g%.%com/cz-en/avg-rescue-cd#tba3

Best,
Mirza

P.S. don't forget to remove % from the link

Thanks guys. However at the site when you click on the download for the cd or usb version it says that the file does not exist.

The first few times I tried it it didn't work, it said

File does not exist.

After I tried changing my settings it works, I'm downloading it now. I am using Firefox. I think it must be a error on the system that is letting it download without a license. It doesn't say anything about being free and it is on the AVG paid site and the link is in the business security section.

English links
CD creation: www.avg.com/us-en/download-file-cd-arl-iso
USB stick: www.avg.com/us-en/download-file-cd-arl-rar

You can download it, if you have a license from here:

We'll it was stated in their beta forum that this is going to be offered as a free download

I tried it with Firefox, and I received the "No File Exists error", switched to IE and it worked fine.

OP, maybe you can edit your original post just to make a note of that.

Thanks for the link though, this can come in handy!

I was considering buying this a few days ago :). I wonder if there's a difference...

EDIT: Yeah, there is. The one I was going to buy from AVG was a winpe system that had more features than this (like services/drivers, for example). I'm still going to use this linux based scanner though, it seems worth a download (I like AVG and have been slaving drives for a while)

I honestly would stay away from AVG. I've seen so many reinfections of viruses with AVG on the system that I remove it from the system anymore. To think that rescue disk is going to do any better would be silly.

I have tested the AVG rescue cd and its really good.. Tested it against the others like f-secure, bit defender but AVG was able to find the viruses on my test computer while the others did not.. Was very impressed....
