Amazon Won't Do Price Adjustment for Massive $200

Bought the $1,300 Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 monitor on Amazon, which is running a few days late.

The price is now $1,100.

Amazon won't give me the $200 difference back. Told them I would be returning the monitor and re-ordering it. $200 is a YUGE price difference.

Their response: "OK."

Is there any way to get them to just give me the $200 so I don't have to return the monitor? A special person I can talk to? It's so incredibly DUMB.

My friend (an Amazon seller) says:

"The nature of the beast of Amazon. Amazon is you pay, seller delivers. End transaction. They want minimal to no seller-buyer contact and extras going on. It is better and more Amazon friendly for sellers to have to do that way"

In other words: absolutely not. Oh HELLLL no!!! Send that b!itch back lol. Waste Amazon's resources. They don't give a sh!t. And risk getting my account banned for excessive returns.

I want that $200 !!! 😫 Preferably the easy way lol.

Edit: talked to an actual person on the phone. No dice. Send 'er back. 😩

Amazon is like a Government Burocracy ... a huge company ... If they have not shipped, just cancel and re-place your order.

If they have shipped, just return the item and again order it again. All of that said, you might want to know they have algorithms that sometimes ban people for excessive returns. This is legitimate, but algorithms sometimes make the wrong decisions.

Also there is no good way to know if the bans are based on dollar amount or number of returns.

I bought a an Athlon 3000G for $69 on Amazon the next day on Amazon it was $59 not a big difference but the $69 had a 2 week out delivery date so I ordered the cheaper faster shipping one. I tried to cancel my original order and couldn't so had to wait for it and then return it a bit of a nuisance but didn't really cost me anything other than the time the funds were held up.

I would presume it also cost you the return shipping, yes? According to their policy, you pay unless you are returning it due to an error on their part:

Return Costs

Your return shipment is free of charge in some cases. If you return an item using the return label provided in the Returns Center and the reason for return isn't a result of an Amazon.com error, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

I have received free return shipping before even though there was no issue.

Just happened with a dress my girlfriend didn't like.

Might help that I have Prime. And that I spend quite a bit there.

I like Walmart better. Wish they had as YUGE of a store as Amazon.

Dell is like that too. A manager I worked with ordered 3 displays from them, and they went on sale for $200 off each, which is $600 for his purchase. They just told him to return and reorder. No one gets paid enough to bother anymore

I just had a similar issue.

I purchased a Fluke Networks LinkIQ kit for $2,800 last month and they put it on sale for $2,300. I called asking if they price matched and was told I would just have to return it and purchase it again for the cheaper price. So I returned it and purchased it again, kind of a waste of money in my book and they sent a UPS truck to pick it up.

I can't recall the details and partly how you answer the questions on the return can determine if you get free return shipping.

I've done that before. I go to return and it has a shipping charge. I go back and change options until it's free. Probably not the best strategy.

This is typical nowadays. Back in the 90's and early 2000's you didn't have to do this BS. It's so stupid. I remember going back into stores all the time with just my receipt (no item) and getting a partial refund for the difference. Now they make you bring in the item if you do it in a store and online they make you buy another one and ship the original one back. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Ya gotta spend more money with them! Once you get upwards of $50k on a business account and try to return stuff they just tell you to keep it and they still refund you.

Last time that happened for me was for a replacement battery for a UPS for $200 or so, they just said keep it and we'll refund you, we don't want to pay for the shipping back.

I worked retail for about 9 months and I absolutely hated this whole price match thing. Technically we weren't supposed to do it as a company but the customers bitched and complain to high hell about it. Never done one myself. I just figure bad timing but $200 does make a heck of a difference.

@thecomputerguy I don't think $50k is the threshold. I spent $61,000 last year on Amazon and the only time they tell me to just keep something is if it's food, sanitary products, or something really cheap and heavy that isn't worth the cost to ship back.

I think it has more to do with the seller that sold it, and the nature of the item than the money spent. I've had them tell me to keep stuff, but when I fire up a return I just assume I'm going to be dropping it off at the UPS Store up the road.

Little late to the ballgame, but Kohls accepts Amazon returns for free. No shipping to deal with.
