Your choice of KVM for your work benches?

I always have a hard time trying to find a good non push button style KVM switch that doesn't have some sort of issue.

Currently using the iogear brand of kvm switches and whenever I switch to a port that has no pc plugged in and if I press anything other than scroll lock + scroll lock + enter, it will freeze up the kvm and I have to unplug the usb from all computers to reset it before it will work again.

I am looking for a good KVM that does not do this sort of non-sense. What do you guys use? Thanks!

I use the dell 71PXP which has been working perfectly for 5 years now. Would really like an IP KVM though.

Avocent!

I've been using Avocent for a good few years. They even used to OEM for Compaq when Compaq were Compaq.

I use the 8 port analogue version. The KVM cables allow for both PS/2 connections, and USB. You can get it either on its own, or with 2, 4, or 8 cables. I chose the option without any cables, and bought the cables separately, as they come in various lengths.

Although rack based, it sits quite happily under my monitor, and never complains, as its only about 7 inches deep.

I think it depends on the magnitude of your business. A business that does hundreds of thousands of dollars each year or more will see this as a drop in the bucket, and a must have.
