You have a desktop that is freezing many times per day. No errors, it just freezes in the middle of what was being done. Could be while sitting idle at the desktop, while running Firefox or IE, while working in MS Word, or watching a video on Youtube. Where would you start? What would you do? Which apps would you use? Thanks. Fred

Re:

As a technician and business owner you should be able to troubleshoot it, right?
This forum is for computer businesses and for technicians to exchange ideas, not personal tech support help!
I advise you to call a licensed business in your area that does computer repair.

What kind of question is this? It depends on a lot of things like what brand of PC, componants, etc ... Could be over heating, could be a driver issue. Do you work on computers?

like the other people stated what step have you done to help correct this?

This is a theoretical question. Is there a better sub-forum for this question? If so, sorry. Yes, I have dealt with this issue before and repair computers. I am asking what you would do in this situation. I am trying to get a feel for how different techs approach this issue. I am trying to learn a thing or two. Thanks.

Ok, if you have dealt with this before tell us what you would do first and then maybe we will tell you what else you can do. ;)

Man where the Wiffle Ball bets you all are destroying this guy.

I may self would look to the System32 Folder and Delete it.

Its on the C: part of the computer under windows. I can give you a video on this kind of thing.

Or I use google, maybe even my dummies book on being a tech.

Open it up and have a look inside. Clean it out if necessary. Inspect connections and caps on motherboard while it is open. (I have had heatsinks clogged with dust and partially popped caps both cause freezing.)

Monitor temperatures using a hardware monitor.

Use a Live CD or USB to run some hardware diagnostics (RAM, hard drive health, etc.).

This is a joke, right ?

Ok, I reread the previous threads. I'm still confused as to if you're a tech and you've worked on computers before, why still ask this question? If you have a problem with a particular desktop, as a tech, I would assume (and it could be wrong) you'd share what troubleshooting steps you would do FIRST and then post the question.

I don't mean any disrespect but just wondering how long have you been in the computer repair business?
