Hi! I have a gateway with a hosed OS, looks like a nuke & pave is in order, but the key on the bottom says "xp tablet edition" can a OEM xp home cd or pro work with this key?? I've never seen a xp tablet edition cd before.

XP tablet edition contains 2 cds. The first is esentially XP Pro; the second is the tablet components. If your machine came with tablet edition, then you should install that. The product key determines which gets installed and controls the switch to request the 2nd disc.

XP Tablet Edition - no CDs

What if they don't have the original install CDs? I have a tablet PC to reinstall the OS on, and also don't have the tablet install disks. I do have XP Pro, however. Would XP Pro have functionality for the stylus? I can get the drivers no problem.

I just checked my media centre discs and they have tablet component folders on the second cd also. I'm not sure if the are the ones needed for tablet itself or for running media centre on a tablet but it may be worth a shot.

I actually have a tablet but it came with a restore dvd and not the original xp discs so i can't help with that i'm afraid :(

i have back ups of the tablet edition xp and the second cd if you need them, i could post them are you in the uk?

Is that how all the computer techs deal with a reinstall?
They order the recovery disks from the OEMs?
The OEMs are so full of bloatware I'd rather install a fresh copy.
Is it possible to get copies of the different Windows versions?
I don't need the keys because I will use the one that is on the customer's unit.

Thanks,

Alan
