Good to know in case this Zalman breaks.
I used to own a different model with the dial which broke.

I'll find out the model number of mine when I find it out in the morning.

Some of the earlier IODDs had similar reviews to the Zalmans - but the model I have is really well built, has a really good touch pad and no move able flimsy parts - it's all solely keypad and menu based.

Highly recommended.

If it's just AV targeting your tools, the method I use is a child VHD. I make a small cmd script, run it, and it deletes the old child vhd, makes a new one and mounts it. I have access to my tools and if an AV delete something it only deletes it on the child VHD, which is never synced to the original. The reason I went this way is that you can load a VHD read only (from disk management) but many tools don't like read only disks and error.

I'd have to find the script but would be happy to share. I also used the SD card trick too.

Well I got my Kanguru Flash Blu30 16gb today and I have to say I like it so far. I put web browser passview on it and then I locked it. I tried to delete it and tried to force delete it in UVK and no luck. I think it is exactly what I was looking for. It is a little over priced for a 16 gig thumb drive but I am paying for convenience.

Transcend or similar USB3.0 adapter. SDHC class 10 card(s). Case. Create cards for whatever purpose and avoid a bunch of USB flash-drives. Keep 2 adapters just in case one fails. The locking switch for read-only is on the card.

This is probably safe, but be aware that the "read-only" switch on SD cards is not an actual write protect switch - it's an advisory switch that the adapter is supposed to read (and I believe pass through to the OS indicating "read only"). I'm not sure what circumstances would allow bypassing this.
