[SOLVED] Won't Connect to Internet

Well guess what, it's fixed!

Uninstalled IE10 (which is listed as a Windows update), booted it back up, and it works.

:D

Edit: I also tried uninstalling the wireless driver as suggested, but that didn't work this particular time.

System restore to a time before the problem occurred would have worked.
I would have tried system restore before playing with 'netsh' etc commands.

Can we all agree that the opening post on this thread is an excellent example of how any of us should be posting help-me topics?

What you are supposed to do here on Technibble is:
1. Start a thread with an inadequate problem description.
2. Get upset when thread replies ask for more information.
3. Disappear from the thread once you have solved the problem, without giving a follow up or conclusion.

The original poster is useless in this regard. He breaks just about every rule. ;)

I had this exact problem on Saturday on a win8 laptop.
She called ACER, ISP, and took it back to store nobody had an idea.

did a system restore job done in 15 mins, system restore usually takes longer on Win8

Asking for help in the right way can make all the difference!

IE is such utter crap that I REALLY wish no one would use it any more. What kills me is that many of the people who refuse to learn new things or ways or doing things started off with Internet Explorer.

I've run into a handful of situations this past month where IE was goofing and I didn't know exactly why, just that Chrome and Firefox performed just as they should when visiting those web sites that IE threw fits with. Explaining to someone that using Chrome will take care of the problem, but not knowing the exact problem causes a lot of headaches. I've almost been tempted to make something up they don't understand anyways :D

What happens if it automatically updates the next day? You would have to have it download and not install. Right? Just curiuse, if I see this in the future or not.

You can also right-click the update and select to 'Hide' it (it can also be unhidden later on if desired)
