Well, you're certainly not wrong there. But, there's a HUGE fly in that ointment... Office 365 owns the world's email market. And, as this thread is showing, there are issues where mail is going into junk boxes. Google is very much with Microsoft on this point. So when the day comes the these two companies say... nope... everything from this type of mail service is going into the junk bin and no we aren't letting you say otherwise...
Well, that's when things change. In the past there were too many distributed systems to even think of such a quantum lurch. But with GMail and O365 owning just about all of the email, that's no longer the case.
My clients pay me to stay ahead of these changes, so I'm adapting for that future NOW. Because if you wait until it's here, it's too late and the losses for our clients will be massive. I'm also concerned with he monolith for other reasons, because they are huge targets to crack, and there's a ton of money to be made cracking them.
