Which one to buy? iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus?

I have just purchased the iPhone 6 4.7 inch model as I found the plus to be too big for my needs.

I disagree with the comments about no self respecting tech buying the iPhone. I have been in the mobile telephone business for over 25 years and have used just about every device and operating system out there. I currently own a variety of both Android and IOS devices. Personally I find that IOS / IPhone works for me, it is reliable, the product is well made and I personally have never had a failure since owning the first model.

Some people have a very short memory and seem to forget what the touch smartphone and tablet market was like before the iPhone and iPad. (Well actually there wasn't really a market!)

The overall package of software and hardware on the iPhone in my opinion is the best (for me anyway) however that does not detract that other manufacturers are making some excellent quality kit. Apple may not be leading the specification numbers game (if that is all you care about!) but that has never been their intention. It is about the total user experience.

I am not your typical fanbois or isheep and I have no affiliation with Apple, before somebody says so.

People do seem to have a short memory, including you. In fact, the "smartphone" market and name was coined by Microsoft in 2003 with "Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone" and "Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition". Did we already forget about Blackberry and RIM, too?

No, you don't, but if you think that a good product is all you need you are sorely mistaken. Some of the worst products have become big successes simply because of marketing and over-hyping (Pet Rock?) and some of the best products have failed because of a lack of marketing. Apple is not the Worlds biggest company. They are #15 in total valuation and much much lower in other areas such as assets. The only place where Apple is #1 is Market Valuation which is other people "betting" on Apple. Your welcome to dispute Forbes if you want.


Also, right now, Apple is a "Sell" in the market and if you read into market news and strategy Apple is way oversold and is a bubble in itself, poised to pop. Once you understand that the stock market is rigged and is still being "supported" by the banks, before and after the crash, you will understand why market price is really nothing but an illusion.

If you read my post again you can quite clearly see that I said "touch" smartphone. I am not saying there was not a smartphone market before just that the market as it is now was very much directed by the iPhone. I loved my sonyericsson p800 and Nokia 9000 amongst many others before that and they were great tools. All companies lead at some point but things can change quickly either by bad or poorly received products and/or new market entrants.

Apple is certainly playing catch up in hardware specs if that is all you are interested in, however as an overall (again for me anyway!) package it works.

The same goes for my Android tv box which is far superior (right now anyway) to the Apple TV I had before!

Lucky for me I bought Apple when it was not a buy in the market years ago, and the same goes for Microsoft which has done extremely well for me over the last 2 years!

The ones in 2003 were "touch" smartphones. To say there was "no market" before the iPhone, with all due respect, smacks of someone who just didn't know about smartphones pre-iPhone. Have it your way.

Pre iPhone was great, post iPhone will no doubt be even better. (whoever the manufacturer is)

I remember seeing the first digital camera on display at Photokina in Cologne Germany in the mid 80's.

My first thoughts being a naive 18 year old "that will never catch on!" Kodak no doubt thought the same!

Smart phones are a great business tool, I use it for social media Seo and many networking tools onsite. Especially wifi utilities for signal strength, and handy for taking images of laptop boards. Though iphones are overrated, overpriced and hypermarketed pieces of crap, just my opinion.

I do get it too, I would never buy an Iphone but I do get why users love them. I prefer supporting Iphones to Android. The problem with Android is every phone is different. It is the old IBM PC v Macintosh argument all over again!.

I have 2 iPhone 4. No "s" models, I don't need something talking to me.

My good 612 number iPhone just died, I got the red eye of death

So I called ATT and they gave me the only option, iPhone 6 upgrade, ugh. I skipped the 5, hoping I could live off the 4 forever! I should get it in 6 weeks or so.

To the poster who said, "No self respecting tech would ever buy an iphone, the technology is 2 years old at best."

I don't use the phone for it's technology, I just use it for 3 things.

Taking calls
Texting
Checking email

I don't care for Androids because of the size and screens, the iPhone was like my old Blackberry Pearl, I need a phone I can use with one hand.

As well, I got an iPhone over Blackberrry a few years ago because my clients had more iPhones then anything else.

Not to say your wrong, but I fail to see either ecosystem NOT doing something you need at this point in time.

I would argue that you should look at whether or not you want to be on the side of closed-source, all exclusive OR open source, peer reviewed and all inclusive.

A good point. And it might shock people that someone is willing to purchase what they want whether it is running ios, android, windows or something else. I tell people to play with different phones and pick what they like.

thanks. im using iphones for years, so i think i'll continue this os...i now prefer the "smaller" iphone 6 a little due to the actually "larger" size the older ones

I never really had a "problem" with android. My Motorola droid x was a pretty good phone.

Me being the cheapo I am, decided to buy some chinese batteries for it on eBay which it HATED. My phone acted like it was nutty for months, and it wasn't until a friend who worked at Verizon discovered what I was doing and told me it was probably the battery.

I wound up washing the good battery in a pocket post one of my drunken nights of debauchery, and bought a real OEM replacement from verizon. Afterwards the phone worked pretty well. It did start to get a little slow towards the end of it's life. My only gripe was back then, the android store (wasn't called google play yet) was really unorganized.

It was hard to easily find the best or most popular apps. In fact from what I remember, unless you knew exactly what you were looking for it was pretty hard to find your way around at all.



I like my iPhone 4s. It's been a good phone, and it's been very handy. But like others have said the most important part of my phone are features that nearly every cell phone has had: receiving/making calls and receiving/sending text messages. The other stuff is just extra.

I don't understand why people argue over this Shiz. It's yiur phone, do what you want and buy what you want. Nobody else needs to use it, so why try to convince anyone else that your phone is superior and there's is inferior. We have better things to solve.

I like my iPhone 4s, I've dropped it heaps, it's been in pockets with keys and usb sticks, it connects up to my car stereo, and devices at home. It's paid off, out of contract and on prepaid! Upgrading to a 6 would render my devices obsolete, and I'd be paying over $90 a month for a phone contract over 24 months that won't provide any substantial benefit over what I already have...
