The old white 8way Compaq ones are really good, but they only support PS/2 keyboards & mice.

I'm currently using an 8way Belkin which supports a mix of USB and PS/2,
but just like any Belkin I've used in the past, it:
- is buggy
- has a crap user interface
- has very limited setup options

But it's good enough.

newegg

Look at newegg. There are several that have good user ratings. I find ebay to often sell stuff for more than buying new.

This brand has several recommended from users. LINKSKEY LKV-7308 8 Port Rackmount USB + PS/2 KVM Switch

I find that four computers is all that I can manage on the bench. my kvm works well 98% of the time. But that 2% always seems to be the most annoying. Some computers do not play well with KVM. Mine is a no name d(justcom)that I have used for 5 years.

I also use synergy virtual KVM for my test machines.

Had good luck with a couple IOGear brand but otherwise I'd suggest searching as there was a topic related to KVMs that would prove useful to you and offer some great suggestions.

thxs for all your replies !!! and merry xmas

well i was thinking about hp/compaq cuz i had in the past generic kvm and they are very buggy and sometime they dont work well , for now i have few linksys for two pc and they work flawlessly but if i jump to 8pc kvm i need the best and not buggy device.
any experience out there with hp kvm?

I use these on my benches to multitask and with more computers being sold without the PS2 connectors I have FINALLY found one that is perfect. I have sold several of these since because of the features and quality. It has indicator light to show which PC you are on (4 port kvm switch). This switch has 3 USB ports on the front that can switch with the change of computer you are on. COOL! :D

From an economic standpoint, I put 2 4-port in series.

So 1 OUT port of A feeds the IN port of B.

I effectively get 7 useable ports for half the cost of an 8 port KVM.
