What do you do during a PC tune up?

Another important steps I like to do, because I pretty much do all the above software/windows related tune up.

Make sure all Computers are blown out with air. (we get alot of dusty/dirty machines)

1. Visual inspection of motherboard for swollen capacitors, brown/darkish spots on Motherboard that could be leading to component failure.
2. Do the above to the power supply also. If out of warranty take cover off power supply, while if still in warranty, try to look through all the breather holes in the power supply.
3. Check all Fans CPU, GPU, PSU, CASE FAN. Lubricate all FANS if out of warranty. If still in warranty do all fans except PSU.
4. Clean all Contacts on Add-On Cards eg Graphics/Modems/Network Cards/Comms Cards etc. Then make sure all cards are firmly inserted and secure.
5. Clean all Contacts on RAM Modules. Then make sure all modules are firmly inserted and secure.
6. Clean old Heatsink paste / pads off CPU and heatsink. Apply a good quality brand name heat paste on. Can repeat process on Graphics cards.
7. Last one I see alot is physically clean the on/off switch at the front of computer cases. Lots and Lots of sticky buttons I have seen.

I am excited to find what others do but here are some first steps I take for cleaning computers.

I first ask whether or not the client or customer has any important links or bookmarks or addresses they may want to write down or backup their saved passwords and bookmarks. I have ran into some people being a little put off that the tools will knock some info they like quick access to. It happened once or twice but since then no big thing. People don't like change.

1. Revo Uninstaller (there is another program, cant remember the name)
2. CCleaner
3. MSconfig is good for stopping start services, but i believe CCleaner can do that too now. Good thing!
4. Run Windows Updates
5. Ensure that AV software is up to date. and other unnecessary security software is disabled to avoid conflict.
6. I do run Avast and Malware Bytes which I have not had any issues.

There are a few more but these are my main points that I get out the way. I'm trying to make my processes more consistent.

I enjoy revo because it gets a lot of leftover junk.

Re no 3, have you looked into auto runs?. It's far more powerful than a simple msconfig cleanse.
Re 1, is it PC decrapifier?

Re backup ps of saved passwords, and bookmarks.

Look into d7ii. It's made by a member on here (foolish it). In the audit/diagnose tab, there's a list of reports you can have.

2 of these straight away are passwords for websites, email passwords, wireless codes etc.

I like many other techs on this board would not use any IObit software.

Please understand that many of the tools used 6+ years ago 1) are no longer valid, 2) have been replaced by other tools, or 3) there are new tools that didn't even exist 6+ years ago.
