HP 24-cb0146z All-in-One PC (20W74AA)

Serial: 8CC31532PG

Product: 20W74AA

It's similar to this video:
Tear down starts around 3:30...warning it has annoying music on the video lol.

I literally can't even get that first piece off on this unit. Like the plastic tips pop out going across but at the corners they just feel like they are embedded. I've put a little force into it but I'm not gonna break the stupid thing trying. It's from 2023 and I cannot find any guide or video on this one anywhere. Maybe hp isn't supplying those guides anymore but I used to usually be able to find them directly but doesn't seem to be on this model other than a regular user guide.

It just needs a new fan...didn't think the AIO's on these were that much of a PITA now but I guess we find out the hard way sometimes lol.

Budget Hardly Perfects, the trick that this person did not show is to remove the back cover first. This will allow proper access to what you are literally stuck on. I would be amazed if this guy did not break several clips the way he went in.

It will come out there are small clips about an inch or so apart from each other on that strip, also a couple of screws I think.

Here is a manual for that model -

It seems like the stand part would have to come out first to get the back off I think...there's a small part on the bottom that i can get to come undone with a spudger but I seen no screws or anything from that in which to hold the stand in...I swear this is a bizarre design I've not seen before lol. Most of them I've seen you'd take the stand out first and then you could just pry the back of it off and access the normal stuff you'd need to.

Description from Parts Surfer based on the AA #:

Product Number : 20W74AA
Description : HP All-in-One Desktop PC 24-cb0000a (3B5H6AV)

Using the description, I found this. Hopefully, it's the one you're looking for.

Unless I'm missing it looking through I didn't see any part in there that showed taking the back panel off. Maybe I need to look tomorrow on a fresher mind lol.

Watching videos helps me but it's tricky finding the exact same one. Model #s can be a couple digits off or it can be a more generic model # like the one you have. If you can't find the exact video, all you can do is look for the grooves where it comes together and screw holes.

Obviously, bright lights help find those places. I work with a medium light most of the time but have to turn on the overheads when I disassemble an all in one. They are brighter but hotter so I leave them off, when I don't need them.

Does this one look similar to what you have? This one is a cr0000a, not a cb0000a.

It's pretty close to this one. That front piece does come off but man you really had to pry it lol.

Still can't really get the display panel part out. I'll try again tomorrow and see if I have better luck. Even after taking out all the screws there along the bottom it just seems like it's wedged in there. Afraid to break the stupid thing lol.

I don't believe the stand part comes out at all on this model. I don't see how if it can.

I watched 3 parts of it and the first one is replacing the stand. It's progressive after that. The bottom front panel over the speakers should just pop right off exposing the lower edges of the display.

Yeah that part came off fine...I still for the life of me can't figure out how the hell the screen comes out.

UPDATE: I decided to boot it on and I believe it may be a false positive after all with hp. That 90b error but the fan is clearly still working. I updated the bios and 2 reboots and no message at all. 3rd reboot message came up again...I had it on for several hours earlier and it was on fine with no issue so probably just gonna let it go after all. On these videos these guys make it look like the screen just comes right out easily after taking the screws out and maybe just a bit of prying but I felt like I'd break it so just kinda gave up on it.
