"The tiny client download size is perfectly suited for even slow dialup connections."

"Reboot the remote PC into Safemode with reconnection before login screen, for those stubborn spyware programs."

"You can supply multiple technician support from a single .exe file."

"Has a toolbox feature that you can load with your own anti-virus and spyware removal tools, all of which can be run on the remote PC with a single click."

"Keeps track of session time and auto-generates an invoice which is emailed to the technician (and client, if desired) upon completion."

Screenshots show that it can br branded and it can even display the charge for the support given, auto reconnect with safe mode, seems interesting enough to share. Maybe someone has used this and can comment...

I tried this out a while back. I can not remember what it was about it but I did not like it. I know one thing I did not like was the per minute billing and I don't thin it had the option for flat rate billing. I also think that it disconnected a lot.

If anyone has tried it recently let me know what you think.

I use it and like it a lot. The current version works great on XP but has a few issues with Vista and 7. The beta, which is available for registered users has good reviews and works with vista, 7, and server 2008.

RSS is a great product and you can't beat the price.

A little off here, but I love your logo & website. Don't think I have seen it before.

I might just give it a try. If it's half as good as they are making it out to be it appears to be quite cheap.

Rss

Your website says that you use Team Viewer, but the screenshots look like RSS. I noticed the branding- nice.

So each customer downloads a small client to effect the connection. A 'server' is running on each of my tech's systems.

I read that the customer can select the tech. So~ do you have Vista/XP/Win7 specialists? How does the customer decide?

And- No recurring cost?

Does anyone have an update on this software?

I've used RSS for a few years and while it is quite good and has some very nice features (like being able to reboot to safemode and automatically reconnect)... it does have it's quirks. When it works it works, when it doesn't it's a pain in the arse. I purchased it initially because it was a one time charge, and not monthly. It sure wasn't cheap, and it's taken a loooooong time to come out with the next version (which they are charging for btw even if you are an existing customer). They are completely redoing it i guess and it still isnt' out. While I they way it works, I do wish it had some better billing options. The per minute thing with paypal just doesn't cut it. RSS is actually built off of VNC I believe.

Ultimately I like LogMeIn Rescue the best, I just can't afford or justify $150/mo or whatever it is. I use LogMeIn Free all the time and it's rock solid IMO.

Anxious to see what the new RSS has to offer...

I am looking at SimpleHelp (also onetime fee) and have set it up on an inhouse XP PRO sp3 server.
My hosting company refused to host it as it needs core access.
I sent their tech support some questions (or issues) last week and have not received a response - not impressed (with the support).

We used RSS for a couple of years. Stopped using it earlier this year. Nice tool, very effective, but would not work consistently for Vista & Win7 clients. Last time I checked the support forums they were working on a more stable v2 but I have not seen it yet. There are better alternatives.

What are you using now and which others have you ruled out and why?

We're an MSP so the majority of our remote support uses Logmein Pro which is supplied by the vendor we purchase our MSP platform from.

Currently for one off situations, we use Teamviewer. We also have some Logmein free installs out there. We have used Logmein IT reach but don't need the one off connection often enough to justify the cost of IT Reach.

It appears RSS has released an update 1.9b which is newer than the last version we used. I'll most likely give it another look as we have paid for this version. When they release v2 we'll have to buy it again, so I'm told.

So how does the reboot into safemode work? If I work on a clients comp and I select it and she/he has a password and no auto-login they would still have to go to the computer and type in the password?
