G day all

hopefully someone can help me out quickly.

I've nearly completed a sbs 2003 to sbs 2011 migration and the sbs 2011 server has **** itself and it looks like the ntds database is corrupt only on the 2011 machine.

I can log in to 2011 with DSRM but that's it. I've tried the esentutl and get a jetdirect error.

So I'm looking at two things to do now:

1, try and recover the AD from 2003 to 2011 some how?
or
2, rebuild the 2011 machine again, taking back the FSMO's to the 2003 and restarting the migration.

NO I don't have a backup, yes I know I should have but I don't. This would have been easily repaired with the backup.

both the 2003 and 2011 are Hyper-v clients if that makes a difference.

Is there another way anyone can suggest?

Thanks in advance

Tim

Your only option if you want this to work out is to start over. Seize the FSMO roles and remove the SBS 2011 server from the network.

Make sure everything is ok on the SBS 2003 server and then do a system state backup.

Rebuild the SBS 2011 server and then start the migration again.

Ok I finally done a fresh install with out migration as the migration failed. I'm having a issue with sbs 2011 exchange receiving mail from external sources. I think I've had this issue before but it's coming up to 36 hours without sleep so very not with it at the moment. In the exchange troubleshooting says "does not support secure connections". I'm using an self assigned certificate. Can some one point me in the right direction, please

exchange by default on sbs2011 does not accept anonymous connections. You need to edit the receive connector to allow anonymous email. We use a bastion host and only allow port 25 from the bastion host to the exchange box. We don't want everyone hitting port 25 on the exchange box, only filtered mail.

Did you do a swing migration or use the MS method... I had horrible luck with MS' migration path, it blew up more often than it worked in the lab, and left you in a pickle since it screws with the original box during the migration.

in the hub transport and internet receiving, permission group, anonymous users is ticked. is that where you mean? So I've still got an issue.

I normally do MS way and don't usually have any issues. I should have done the swing with this server because it has had issue before. to late now. All I've done now is install SBS and new domain, taken to users off old and on new, PSTed outlook. Copied desktops from one profile to the other.

yep did all the wizards. There was something weird going on with the router. With port probing it said the ports where open but got no traffic to the server. I've reconfigure the modem/router without the router and everything is working. so it's came back to the router. thanks for your help.
