This. I'm betting ASUS doesn't repair it. They replace with a refurb and f--- your data on there.I would strongly suggest doing a backup or pulling the drive before sending it in though. I know she didn't seem concerned about it, but that story might change if she doesn't get the laptop back from ASUS.
Yes, I did that, thanks. I backed up her data with Fab's, all 130GB of it. Her drive has 72 bad sectors so not a lot in original condition.I would strongly suggest doing a backup or pulling the drive before sending it in though. I know she didn't seem concerned about it, but that story might change if she doesn't get the laptop back from ASUS.
Where have we heard that comment before. I'm still waiting for a client to pickup a old Win XP laptop that they were going to pickup from their IRS refund "last year". I'm holding on to it in case they call again and I will them them I recycled it.Sure will. It will be interesting, especially as she said she had a big cheque coming in soon to cover my estimated $500 bill. LOL
She just couldn't deal with having paid $2,500 for it when it was new, even though you can buy a better replacement for less than half that now.I would have pulled the hard drive and encourage her purchase a new laptop.....soothing industrial strength...do they make titanium laptops? .
He's going to get the screen assembly (as I received it) which gives him a good idea, but I like your idea. He'll be disgusted enough, I think, although I wish he had to deal with the keyboard as received. Would love to talk to him to get his reaction. You should print off the photos of when you got the system and tape them on the inside of the cover so that the next tech has a full appreciation for how bad it was.
