I've worked on some ChromeBooks before but this one has me puzzled.
The kboard refuses to simply input after the first character.
I get a popup suggesting pressing on . (dot) to release then nothing else.
Switching to different langage input makes no difference.
How do I configure the kboard to work like a normal one please?
I've changed the caplock key to work as caplock but that's the only one that looked odd.
Can't even join the wifi as I cannot input the next characters after the first.
Same thing when trying in Text.
The customer admitted he fiddled with settings when bored and messed up things

Was that the fix? If not, and the guy has nothing important on it, I would simply power wash to reset it.
Yes, that was the fix.
He'd gone into Accessibilities area and enable a bunch of stuff, one of them the mouse keys.
Don't know how someone could use that feature as it changes the way we're all used to using a kboard, another learning curve there.
Some crazy options in ChromeOS in terms of customisations

Glad you figured it out. I've had customers mess with settings to the point I had to reinstall the OS. People get curious and it can become costly for them....

I'm really glad I have only had a few of them, but Compulsive Button Punchers, whether it's for settings or otherwise, have on several occasions been a cash cow. When in doubt, DON'T.

Yep and they never have any idea how they pulled it off lol. I remember someone years ago somehow turned their screen to all grayscale so it was like looking at an old tv...at the time I didn't even know that was an accessibility option. I did figure it out fairly quickly but just something I'd never knew of lol.

I went on a house call a few years ago for a black screen. Turns out, the customer had turned the brightness all the way down....... lol. We both laughed, she paid the bill, and we became friends. :)

I once drove 40 minutes to turn on a monitor for the same symptom. We didn't become friends, but they still paid the bill.
I had a house call scheduled this morning to help a customer set up her printer on a computer she bought from me a couple days ago. Texted her to let her know I wouldn't be there until this afternoon. She said "ok".

She called for another reason, then said "oh, btw, I forgot to select the printer I wanted to print from. It's fixed now."...... lol I'm so glad she saved me the house call. I'm way too busy to leave. She's an older woman, totally adorable, and has the onset of dementia. ❤️

Yeah I had one of these too.
She rocked up with her laptop that it now had a black screen.
On start up I could pick up a faint haze on the screen that made me think the brightness might have been turned down to minimum.
I tried increasing it and everything was back to normal instantly.
She wondered how she would've done it!
I didn't charge her for a 30 seconds fix 😏

When they come in with stuff like that, I don't charge anything either. But mine was a house call so, when I have to leave the shop, I have to charge. :)
