Toshiba a105 Screen Turns off Randomly

I am working on a laptop for a customer and there screen turns off. It seems like the computer is still running but for some reason it just randomly turns off. I thought it was a heat related problem so I replaced the fan and it will still not work. If I run a cpu test off of the ubcd cd the screen will turn off in approximately 15 min. I have updated the bios but the problem still exists. The worst part is I have another Lady with a toshiba (both customers purchased computer around the same time and while they are not the same model they probably have similar hardware) and she is having the exact same problem. Obviously this is a hardware problem because the problem exist outside of windows. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is it just the backlight turning off, or is it the whole screen?

Check with an external monitor to see whether it's a screen or other HW issue.

Check the laptop close switch... if it's malfunctioning, it may turn the screen off.
