It seems that for most people here, English is not their first language and when they make mistakes, you can understand and overlook them. But I find it hard to believe that American born people, make these mistakes in their writing constantly. English is not my first language either, I was born and raised in Europe, in a non-English speaking country, but am educated here in the States. I was laughing with my wife a few days ago, at my brother-in-law, who is 25, and wrote 'except' instead of 'accept' and he goes to school to become a CPA. Holy smokes, man!
It is sad to see that the level of education and school requirements in this country is going under. I bet there are people who can't spell out loud a 6-7 character word. My wife that is a teacher, laid-off now, but running her child care, just told me recently that a few hundred or thousand teachers, again, got their pink slip. They will have no job next year. What will happen to our children and how are they going to get educated, nobody knows? I see our children spending time online and taking classes over the web, taught by some teacher in India or China. That is just the way I see it.

I agree only, technibblers make these types of common grammatical and easily disregarded mistakes... (because obviously we get confused by these misspellings and completely don't understand what someone is saying when this happens.) Its a good thing this is isolated to only the technibble forum and its (or is it it's) not common in the rest of the english speaking portion of the world.

We need to fix this immediately!!!!!! Who is with me guys!

The other day someone used your instead of You're and I totally couldn't understand what they were trying to communicate. It took me hours to realize that what they meant to say was 'You are' It just blew my mind that someone is that lazy! This is MADNESS MADNESS! Wow the time savings when people use the right grammar.

I'm righting Obomba a ledder immediately. Hopefully he can ficks this problam. Cause things like this are a reel priority!

I also think that people do not reread their posts before posting. I always read 2-3 times to make sure it would make sense to others.

If I see a website with a grammatical error, it puts me off. When I email a customer, I proofread to ensure professionalism, and that's for one person to read. It's exponentially worse when it's posted for the world to see.

[If English isn't your primary language, that's fine (this post is directed at the English bunch); but the rest of us have no excuse! USE that keyboard!]

The stuff I see people messing up on is with things I learned when I was 11 years old.
Is it really so hard to read back through your post before you submit it?

This stuff is on the web, for the whole world to see! (put some effort into what you write)
And for those of you who don't know how to use proper grammar: we live in the Information Age- you have no excuse! Grab a book, hit a few websites or have a grammar-loving friend help you out!

Haha, you're completely correct.

As much of a (kinda) Grammar Nazi I'll be with my friends, I abuse brackets, parentheses, dashes and also commas often. I'm still learning with those guys, but until then I use them in whatever way makes my writings easier to read.

I think the whole grammar and punctuation thing is overplayed. It's a forum, and people are going to generally write casually. If they get the point across, I don't care if they spelled it right or not.

I really don't care so much about grammar, what really bothers me is when people use words in their "texting" spelling and they think that it's the correct spelling.

Last week a tech on another board was using the word "prolly" when he meant "probably", however when I joked with him about it he really thought the word was "prolly" and has been using that spelling in ALL his communications for years.
