SO much for Disney Plus streaming service

It wasn't working for me this morning, and still seems a little hit or miss, but watching The Mandalorian now. It's quite good.

I'm sure Disney will get better as they work out the kinks and the initial rush ends.

Pitty that each studio, network, company has their own streaming service now as subscribing to multiple services can/could/will push you over the cost of just having cable service from your local cable company.

Looks like that is the way the industry is going atm Netflix is now having to compete with other streaming services its only going to get worse.

What we're seeing here is the downfall of the "established" movie and film houses, IMO. A scramble to jump ship from cable-only packages. A dollar short and a day late.. All these guys sh*t all over "streaming" and "online" services for so long they are no longer able to compete. Arriving late to the game, the value propositions for these things are in the toilet, for the consumer... and the consumer already knows this.

I can almost guarantee that Disney and others with stop their streaming services within a few years or will simply begin licensing to established streaming services after their signup numbers do not warrant their service. Like HBO, now on Amazon and everyone else, too.

But it’s important to note that number of app downloads doesn’t equate to the actual number of active users or subscribers — and it’s still unclear how many people are actually paying for Disney Plus.

Disney announced that Disney Plus had more than 10 million sign-ups on launch day and in the weeks leading up to it. First, there’s no way to independently corroborate that. Also, Disney didn’t say how many of those are on Verizon’s one-year-free giveaway offer for unlimited wireless customers and new broadband subs.

In the first 13 days, Disney Plus generated about $5 million through in-app purchases (after subtracting app store fees), Apptopia estimated. That’s not a significant indicator of Disney Plus’ overall subscriber base given the service’s one-week free trial, the Verizon promo, and the fact that users can sign up and pay for Disney Plus on the web.

Sounds about right.

Remember, Disney spent $1.58 Billion dollars on their streaming service purchase(BAMTech).. at this rate they'll start making money in 12-13 years. It's still early, so hard to call.. but I honestly don't see it going anywhere... especially after seeing that the service was already hacked and every single one of their videos and shows is available elsewhere... cord cutters know what's good, and this aint it.

Disney owns enough content to make their stuff work. The thing is, our governments should be smacking them with anti-trust to stop it anyway...

With as much content and media as Disney owns, allowing them to handle their own distribution creates a vertical monopoly far more dangerous than Standard Oil ever thought about being... We broke up Bell for far less.
