Hi all,

Just joined today. I thought I would comment on Service Management Software for our industry. I see a few posts regarding PC Repair Tracker. I looked at the website and it appears to be a decent application. Are many people here using it? How do you handle tagging your systems when they are brought in?

About 5 years ago I stumbled upon NewWayService by Orologic. It's a workorder/service management application that fits the PC repair shop business very well. Price is great, and it's feature rich. I highly recommend taking a look and checking out the demo. With the help of their support, we designed a custom report that prints an asset tag on a Dymo label printer. No more lost or mixed up printed workorders.

We use Quickbooks Pro for invoicing and POS.

Best regards,
Walt

Right, so you just joined (Welcome!) and thaught to give us few tips about software you believe we didn't know existed or we didn't know how good it was.
I have 2 questions for you:
1. Are you promoting this software?
2. Have you browsed through the current forum at least to see the wealth of information already available on this subject?

I have no affiliation with newwayservice other than I am a licensed user. Searched for newway, newwayservice, orologic, workorder and found no mention of newwayservice. Read threads on pcrepairtracker. If you knew about newwayservice, I'm sure it would be in the forums.

Walt, I am sorry for being such an asshole... :o
But you would have to PM him your email address which in turn should point to that domain name. Then he can choose to email you and wait for an answer, etc...
Or you'll just make people laugh at you.

By the way, don't PM me, I will not reply, not interested.

Fair enough. PM me for my company name and website.

Oi, a competitor.

*waves at pcecom from down the road*

You never answered my emails when I was asking about your prices so I could be competitive. lol.

actually. PC Enhancements uses Autotask. So I don't know if you actually work for them or if you guys honestly run 2 different service management applications.

edit: I see you purchased Robin's stuff, At least you updated your website.

No, it used to not have that stuff. I can't remember the last time I checked it, maybe a month or so ago.

Either way, the first name he is giving matches the name of the person who formed the business, so I assume he is the owner or just a person way too into copying someone. lol.

edit: It was formed by and the current President is a Walter. I will refrain from posting anything else, but I do know a lot about the company because of how close we are and I certainly mean no harm to them. Hell, I applied for a job there when I was 19. lol. I didn't hear anything from them though.

We do use Autotask for the commercial side. If Autotask was suited to a carry-in service model I would drop NewWay. The problem is, with a customer base in the several thousand range it would make Autotask a monster to manage. Doing more commercial these days anyway and looking like to eventually sell out of the carry-in service business. Looking to expand?;)

Edit: Too much business around for me to consider anyone a competitor. I never worried about comparing prices with other shops either. If you are fair and honest you'll retain your customer base. If you run a PC service business like a used car lot, then you need to worry about competition. Heard about your company from someone earlier this year. Can't remember from what context though. Do you do web development?

OK, so I have hijacked this thread and now I will dully wait for my punishment.
Giving a matching first name means nothing.
A quote from a film. The film was not that well done, but the quote even now rings in my years.
A baddy in the film says: "Assumption is the mother of Fuckups"
I really liked that one. LOL:cool:

lol. I probably make in a month what you make in less than a day, so I definitely can not purchase anything from you.

Besides, that would ruin the slow victory of tearing your business apart one customer at a time. lmao. (I hope this was taken as the joke I meant it to be)

edit: just saw your edit:

I hope you heard something good. lol. (if not, send me a PM about it if you wish to share. I don't think anyone has been dissatisfied with my service, so I certainly would love to know).

But I feel the same way about competition. I also target a different customer (I don't/can't do walk-in and have to go to the customer because I am home-based). I do not do web development. I am more of a back-end guy with Ruby being my current language of choice. I do know CSS and HTML and such and can see a good site design, but don't expect me to produce one. My site is a template and WordPress.

Love the quote, but seriously, anyone else who joins this forum and immediately starts recommending a specific product is a spammer, so it wasn't a completely far off assumption.

Honestly can't remember when or why. If it was bad I'm sure I would remember. Any ideas of what happened to the guys on rt40 in North East? Or the ones further down the road in Elkton on rt40? Now those I did hear bad things about. There are a few others around that we've done cleanup for.

Email me your contact info. We get quite a few people requesting in home service. Since we started transitioning to more commercial we don't always service them. Rather than send them to the geeks I'll send them your way.

@pceinc
You got to update that copyright notice on your "Pay On-Line" page.
All other pages have Copyright 2010 only "Pay On-Line" has it for 2008.
honestly, if I was to consider paying online, that would put me off.

Thanks for pointing that out. That page is a static page for reasons that have to do with how DNN processes forms and the requirements of my merchant company. The rest of the pages are handled by the portal.

Did I just divulge too much information about another product:eek:

Not sure who you are referring to on rt40 near Elkton. The ones in North East last I heard was from a client I got from them. They are apparently rennovating their shop and requiring their customers to drop computers off at their house. The client I had gotten from them basically paid them over $100 for a repair that didn't fix their major problem (wireless not working) and they never told them why it wasn't working. They also sold them a AV license for $50 or so and install Avira Free. When they got the computer back and realised the problems werent fixed, it ended in being cursed out by the company and no refund. They also only accepted cash and provided no receipt. I am not worried about them taking my business. lol.

I can't recall offhand the real issue (This happened in January), but I remember having to do a reinstall because their HDD was failing. The wireless was dead because it was a dv9000.
I made a thread about it: http://www.technibble.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12524

I will send a PM later with contact information.
