Do you have a dedicated/static IP address for your business, if you offer online backup or other online services? If you do, do you have RR business class for this? How much do they charge for this and are you happy with the service?

I'm wondering if it's worth it to go with the cost of business class vs just using my current home / residential service. I'm working on offering an online backup service to a server I house, and most of the software, with the exception of logmein backup, requires a dedicated IP. I am aware I can use one of the dynamic forwarding services, but I was curious of the other benefits and feelings of anyone who already has this service, over a standard residential type.

Thanks --

I never really dealt with too many RR business customers as an installer. The speeds vary dependant on the price, which is usually a little more per month for a business account. The only thing I can say from experiece about RR business is that most service calls are handled immediately. RR knows that a business is dependant on their internet service. They reserve time slots specifically for business clients, and if you make a call before 5 pm they usually will send a technician out same day. Just please be nice to your technician, most of the time customers are the ones that make us bitter. Offer a cup of water or atleast tip the guy 3 bucks for a drink, especially if he's a contractor.

I used to work for Time Warner myself, but now I am a computer consultant. I
concur with Luis's statement above. Those techs are overworked!

If you are serious about your business, then yes, I would get the ~$89 RR biz class
service for your home. Get a real static IP, you can host your own domain, and you get
biz class support at home. If you have businesses paying you money, you cannot
afford to be out due to a residential issue.
(Tip: Their usually is a 20% discount on the RR Biz class price -- just ask the sales
agent!).

I move most of my folks from DSL to RR Biz Class in my area. The service
just plan WORKS in my area.
